He expected perfection, but what he found was something he could not buy, a spark he could not ignore. She was not intimidated by money, and it infuriated him and intrigued him. The morning sun glinted off the BMW as Adrian strode into the garage, expecting the car to be flawless. A quick glance and his sharp eyes immediately caught the mistake. One of the fluids had not been refilled. “What happened here?” His voice cut through the air, sharp and commanding. “I told you to have this ready.” Elara, standing with grease-stained hands, looked up. She was tired, yes, but her posture was defiant, not apologetic. “I did my best,” she said. “I have been working late, balancing multiple jobs. I did not forget out of carelessness.” Adrian blinked. She was not cowering. She was not groveling. And yet, there was skill in her hands, in the way she had tackled the rest of the car. He frowned, frustration mixing with an odd curiosity. Who was this woman, and why could she not be bought or intimidated? “You were supposed to wait for me,” he said, his arrogance flaring. “I expected perfection.” Elara’s eyes flared with controlled anger. “Perfection is not what I can promise. I am doing the best I can. Maybe you should learn that not everything bends to money.” The words struck him, sharp and unapologetic. Her confidence, despite exhaustion, was infuriating and magnetic. Adrian found himself studying her, the set of her jaw, the intensity in her gaze, the defiance that refused to bow. He clenched his fists, a mix of frustration and intrigue bubbling inside him. She was not just another person he could impress with wealth. She was clever, persistent, and completely unmoved by status. As he inspected the rest of the car, he realized something else. She had skill. Real skill. Despite fatigue and long hours, she had done almost everything perfectly.
