###Chapter 6

Ramona had barely finished speaking when Jermaine's personal assistant rushed into the room and whispered something to his ear. Jermaine was known for maintaining composure even in the direst situations. He hadn't reacted when she mentioned ending their engagement earlier, but now his pupils constricted, tension evident across his features. Ramona knew immediately that news of Tamera's suicide attempt had reached him. As Jermaine moved to leave, his expression dark, Ramona directly blocked his way. "Mr. Bauer," she said firmly,"we haven't finished our discussion." "Step aside." Jermaine's tone was cold, carrying a hint of danger. To him, this woman was nothing more than a tool to satisfy the Bauer Group and his grandmother's demands. He'd never harbored any real affection for her. Camera flashes illuminated them from all directions as the media captured every moment. Jermaine narrowed his eyes dangerously."Using cancellation as a threat? You overestimate yourself, Ramona." He brushed past her without hesitation, confident she'd never dare break off the engagement with the Bauer family. As Jermaine walked away, Ramona stepped forward with quiet dignity. Facing the guests, she smiled calmly and declared,"Today, the CEO of the Bauer Group has broken our engagement for Ms. Alvarado. I, Ramona Mahoney, willingly approve it. From now on, Jermaine and I shall go our separate ways." Celeste's champagne glass slipped from her fingers, shattering on the floor mid-conversation with other socialites. Her face paled. What? Cancellation? Had Ramona completely lost her mind? Inside the car, the atmosphere grew tense. "Mr. Bauer," the assistant ventured carefully,"Ms. Mahoney mentioned calling off the engagement. If she's serious, your grandmother..."
