Evelyn left Fred’s room with tears clouding her eyes, and Fred, determined to have things his way, allowed her to go. All he could think of was how she didn’t love him enough to leave with him, and he wondered why he was doing so much for her when she probably didn’t feel the same.
As she walked away, Herald noticed her distress and felt a pang of concern. Though he’d initially stepped back after learning of her involvement with Fred, seeing her in such a state made him reconsider. He took off at once, going after her to know what was troubling her.
