Chapter 3: Wolf Reflex

"Coordinate your hands and eyes. Ready?"
"Yes."
Logan underwent reflex practice with Jaxon's help using two small balls. The reflex practice was very important and useful to train Logan's speed while on the track.
But actually even without practice, Logan's reflexes would still be faster than an ordinary human. He even has the fastest reaction time of 0.1 seconds.
He even controlled it so as not to be too suspicious.
"Sometimes I think you're not human because of how fast your reflexes are."
Logan only smiled slightly. "Only humans can join the races. If I was an alien or an animal, I wouldn't be here with you."
"You're right."
"Sorry sir, can you take a look for a moment? We need your opinion, sir." A team member interrupted.
"I'm training him-" Jaxon's words were stopped when he saw Elena pass by. "Hey new kid! Come over here and help our driver practice. You take my place because I'm busy."
Without consent, the balls was thrown to Elena.
"But I also have to do my duty."
"What duty? The drivers are still here and Free Practice is tomorrow. Now is media day," Jaxon said, not wanting to know.
Elena couldn't help but take Jaxon's place. But every time she saw Logan, she kept remembering what he had said after the crash in sprint qualifying and on the balcony of the restaurant 10 days ago.
Mate and mine, Elena heard.
And that's what confused her but she didn't want to ask Logan about it.
"You look so forced to help me," Logan said.
"I just don't want to be bombarded by the press. I don't want to be in public. I just like working behind the scenes."
"They won't come here, they have their own room to hang out in. I'll just do the interview there."
"Not because of me, right?"
Logan chuckled, "no."
Elena opened her mouth wide when she saw how Logan's reflexes worked. Even though she deliberately didn't give him a signal and invited him to talk, he was able to catch two balls that Elena dropped simultaneously with just one hand.
"How is that possible?"
"Because I practiced a lot so I was able to predict it."
"The problem is that you caught two balls at once that fast. I still can't believe what I saw."
Elena was convinced that there was something wrong with Logan and now she was curious to find out.
"Let's end the practice. I'm going to the interview now."

Elena took front row seats in Logan's interview this time even while lowering her hat to her eyebrows so her face wouldn't be photographed.
This was the first media day that she had been in the media and press room after joining the current team.
"He looks well-trained in everything, including in front of the camera," Elena muttered.
For some reason she felt that there was something about him that drew her in and made her want to see Logan more and more every day. But she can't explain what it is.
Camera flashes flickered like lightning to greet the drivers as soon as the live stream began.
Question after question was asked and Elena also listened keenly.
There was no problem at first until the following question was asked and the chaos just started.
"Logan!" shouted the man in the mask.
"Yeah?"
"Logan you're handsome but back off please. We need to see Dimitri win even if just once."
Logan laughed. "I already let him go faster in QS3 during sprint qualifying in Canada."
That was responded with a small laugh too by the media that made Dimitri who was watching from a distance, snarl in annoyance.
Meanwhile Elena, shook her head and warned Logan from her place not to answer questions like that.
"Alright now we're going to do the game which is guessing the faces of the other team's drivers. Are you ready?"
"I even memorized their hairstyle so I'm good to go," Logan replied.
What should have appeared on the screen was the game that had been set up. But someone had sabotaged the event so a video of Logan appeared instead.
The video was taken secretly while Logan and Team Fenrir were having dinner at the restaurant. And unfortunately Elena's face was clearly visible there because the video started from the balcony.
This made Elena curse inwardly because her camouflage efforts were in vain.
The video continued to zoom in until it only showed Logan. There was a red circle that followed the movement of his hand that he put behind his body.
Then what happened next was that an object, which was actually the necklace given to Elena, fell, but was caught by Logan as fast as lightning like nothing had happened. By the time the video got slow, everyone finally had a clear view of what Logan was doing.
The words appeared on the screen:
Do humans have reflexes that fast?
This is Logan Vance, the driver with the suspiciously fast reflexes!
Then the next video is of Logan playing golf. He hits the ball so hard that it bend the golf stick. Then there was the video of him playing Lacrosse as a goaltender, where Logan moved so fast that he caught all the balls with the stick.
After the video stopped, everyone applauded and marveled at Logan's skills in multiple sports, which made him look even more perfect. Instead of focusing on his reflexes.
"You're so amazing Logan. You can be an athlete in each of these sports," the host praised. "But who is that woman? Is she your girlfriend?"
The press were fortunately not focused on Logan's reflexes but on the woman with him on the balcony. They were more than happy to pick up on it because Logan has been the only driver who has never been reported to be in a relationship despite rumors that he was with a woman.
Therefore, the video clip was very important and definitely worth a lot of money!
Logan immediately looked at Elena who had looked down and was about to run away. He also looked at the man who was yelling at him, knowing that he was the one who had deliberately played the video to expose his identity to the public as a henchman of Stewards, elit council that wanted to expose his identity from years ago. And Logan was too smart to handle it.
"We're not dating yet but we're close."
"You gave her a necklace. Are you going to give her a ring soon?"
Everyone cheered, making the situation heated.
"If she's ready, then I will. Anyway she's here too. Right, Elena?"
All eyes and cameras went straight to Elena when Logan looked at the woman wearing Team Fenrir's jacket.
Elena cursed inside, giving Logan a few dirty words for baiting her.
"Wow, so your girlfriend is from Team Fenrir too?"
"Ms. Ruiz, is it true that you are close to Logan?"
"When did your relationship start?"
"Is there any possibility of going to a more serious level like marriage?"
Marriage?
Elena still had an unfinished mission here!
Finally, Elena straightened her head and smiled awkwardly in front of the camera.
"You can ask Logan. He knows all the answers."
Suddenly Logan jumped down and took her hands, urging her to run, to escape.
Elena looked back and saw the press following them.
"Don't look back. They'll take pictures of your face."
"It's too late! My face will probably be today's headline!"
Logan laughed.
"You owe me an explanation, Logan!"
