Elena looked at herself in the mirror. She focused on the necklace that Logan had given to her.
"You're not leaving?"
Skoll rounded his eyes as he looked at Elena's necklace that she tried to hide.
"Wow, what's that? From your boyfriend?" Then he whispers, "so your relationship with Logan is just a rumor? I guessed it, you can't be his taste."
Elena glared in disbelief.
"Hey what do you mean by saying that!" She stood up and pushed Skoll out of the way. "My tastes aren't his though."
"Elena! I joke, I swear!"
She continued walking without minding Skoll anymore because she was in no mood to respond to anyone at this time. She also had one thing to do which was to meet Logan.
And the universe seemed to support it. Logan, who was riding a bicycle, passed in front of Elena who had just exited the team bus.
He wasn't alone but with two other drivers from different teams. The three of them also had a special title: NGL bikers, taken from the first names of the members who are Noah the McQueen driver, Gill the Warren driver, and Logan himself.
One of them, Noah, who had been on the same team with Elena before, waved his hand to her, greeting her.
"Hi, Elena!"
"Hi, Noah! Watch out ahead!"
The bike tyers screeched as Logan abruptly stopped. After parking the bike, he walked to Elena.
"Do you know him?"
"Don't talk to me in public!" Elena winced. "Pretend like we don't know each other. I'll walk first."
"That will look strange. But I'll follow what you said."
They ended up walking hand in hand. As Logan said, it looked weird. But they maintained that position until they entered the garage which was quieter.
"You haven't answered my question, Elena."
"What? How do I know Noah? Simply because I was on the same team as him before joined our team.”
"I know that. But you guys seem close."
"I'm sociable, unlike you. So no wonder."
Despite the blunt answer, Logan wasn't mad because he saw that the necklace he'd given was still on her neck.
"Here's your phone. I found it." Elena handed it to Logan.
"Thank you. But where did you find it? I've been looking for it but it's not there."
Lying, Logan actually knew that it was in Elena's bag but he was pretending. So he can get another reason to talk to her.
"After round 2 was over, when I was about to leave and go back to the hotel, I found your phone near the restroom. It was smashed, that's how it was when I found it."
"It was too fragile even though it just fell down. It's a good thing you found it, not someone else."
Elena just smiled slightly while observing his eyes.
"Yes, for some reason I feel like something is connecting us. Yesterday it was the media, now it's your phone."
"I see about our news, it's gotten a bit better. They started focusing on the race this week."
"Yeah, it's cooler than before."
At first Elena was about to leave without trying to drag out their talk. But as she looked at Logan's car that was parked and ready to be used for practice 1 & practice 2 today, she noticed something shiny on the wheel covers.
It wasn't something that should be there and attached like it usually was. So she approached it and touched it.
"What is it? Why is it two-toned?"
Logan came closer but when he realized what Elena was touched, he backed away slowly.
"Do you know what is this?" Elena asked.
"It's silver… silver powder," Logan replied in a deep, husky, almost unheard voice.
"Huh? Why there's silver here?"
Elena pinched the layer of powder and then walked over to Logan.
"How do you know it's silver when you're just looking at it without touching it?"
Logan had to remove Elena's hand from in front of his face.
"I know it by the smell."
When Elena brought the powder closer, Logan grasped her hand. Although dealing with Elena's scent was difficult, he didn’t have a choice. Logan didn't want Elena to be at risk because smelling the powder.
"I'll tell this to the mechanics. You'd better go back to your room."
"Why are you afraid? Come on, it's not toxic, it's just a non-harmful powder."
"Where did you get the idea that it's safe? Quickly clean it off your hands because we don't know if it could be poisonous."
"Then help me clean it up." Elena stretched her hands forward.
"I can't. I'm using gloves."
"Therefore it will be safer since you are using gloves than my hands that are not using anything."
But Logan just eyed her without doing anything which made Elena snicker. She finally cleaned up the powder by patting her hands away from Logan.
"We should check those tyres one more time. I'm afraid someone is trying to sabotage your car. After all, there must be people who are jealous of you because you dominated the last season and this season as well."
Elena's concern was a breath of fresh air for Logan because it proved that she cared.
"Don't worry, I can always handle people who mess with me."
"That's good, but don't get too cocky. You could get hurt by underestimating the dangers around you."
Logan nodded as he pushed Elena toward the exit.
"You're finally wearing that necklace."
Elena looked at the object hanging around her neck.
"I have no idea when I put it on. It was suddenly around my neck when I woke up yesterday. I thought I had thrown it away...." She stopped talking and curled her lips inward.
"What's yours will come back to you no matter what."
The mechanics had arrived which made Elena inevitably step away from Logan so as not to confirm the media story.
"Can you guys check the tyres again? Especially on the covers. I noticed something unusual and I think it could affect the car's performance during race."
"What is it? You're right, we didn't see it yesterday."
Elena's suspicions were correct, something was wrong with Logan's car and she was sure that someone wanted to harm him on purpose.
Because if Logan was injured or hurt, then there was another driver who'd be on hand to replace him, just like he told someone on the phone yesterday.
Before completely leaving the garage, Elena looked back once more time to see Logan who was in discussions with the mechanics and muttered.
"I don't know if you're blessed or if you are what you said you were, an Alpha. Your mysterious personality makes me interested to learn more about you. Although it's hard to believe that supernatural things like werewolves exist, I'll try to believe what you said and prove it by myself."
Actually, Elena still remembers clearly when Logan looked into her eyes so deeply as if he wanted to hypnotize her.
And she also remembers all of his words about how Elena wasn't ready to accept him.
Elena's memories were not erased. Logan's ability to erase memories didn't work on her.
