Chapter 5: The Enigmatic Alpha.

Lycril glared at me furiously. Hurling insults as she walked towards my direction, aiming to dig her long, sharp nails into my skin. “You bastard child. Why didn't you tell him you were the one trying to seduce my son? You lowlife, I'll make sure you pay for this.” She was taken away by Xavier's men just in time before she could lay her hands on me, alongside Enzo who might probably be taken to the hospital later. “Sorry for what happened Beta Xavier, but believe me when I say she's untouched. My stepson hasn't laid a finger on her.” My father said to my utter dismay. Was he really selling me off? “We'll leave now, Richard. The Alpha will communicate with you on the agreed price.” “Freya darling,” he said, turning towards me. I was shocked as I heard my father call me with such an endearing name. What happened to being called a bastard? Or an old dirty hag? Or the bad, unwanted child? “I'll miss you. And be a good girl.” I could see the smirk on his face and the mischief in his voice. I need no one to tell me he meant nothing about those words he had said and he couldn't just wait to get rid of me. Xavier turned towards me, his brown eyes seemed to be boring into my soul. “Have you packed everything? We're leaving now.” I only nodded, “Yes sir…” I didn't want to go with him. I know living with my father and his wife with her evil children was like living in hell. But these people? These people who seem to derive joy in skinning people alive? It would be more than hell! I was scared for my life. Xavier soon led me outside. As I stood for a while, glancing at the house I grew up in, I wondered how different it would have been with my mother around. Being sold was one of the cruellest things a father could do to his daughter. If I ever survive this, then I can survive anything else. I assured myself as I sat beside Xavier in the luxurious car waiting to take me to my final destination–My new home. It's been two weeks since I arrived from the Silver-fang pack to the Northridge pack. I was taken care of and well fed, and I wondered if these were all a preparation before my death, which awaited me, or a normal ritual done whenever someone new arrived at their pack. Beta Xavier had told me the Alpha had gone on a mission and would be back after two weeks which was today. *** As I sat in the room waiting for the Alpha's arrival, I tried to prepare myself for the worst. I didn't know what he wanted from me, but I had to give it to him; after all, he had paid my father. I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread creeping up on me as I heard footsteps approaching. Was he here already? I asked myself, my heart pounding hard against my ribs. Would he be as cruel and evil as they said he was? Was he ugly like they've described? Suddenly, the heavy door creaked open, and a few maids who had been tending to me for the past few days sauntered in, followed by Beta Xavier. I took a sharp breath and clenched my hands waiting for the most dreadful moment of my life. And just then, a tall figure entered my dimly lit room. Even though the light was barely enough to have a good glimpse of him, he looked muscular with a chiselled jawline, a perfect creation. He moved with a swift, royal gait; his physical appearance was charming, and I found myself getting weak in the knees. He exhumed power and authority and that seemed to intimidate me. I gazed at everyone in the room, they all stood looking as if they were barely breathing. Who's this man? One…Two…Three He took three steps and finally came to a halt in front of me, his hazel eyes piercing deep into my soul as if searching for something within. This was my first time seeing a man with hazel eyes and how beautiful they looked on him. Is he really the evil alpha everyone talks about? This man right here is near perfect! A wonderful work of art! I could hear my heart beating fast against my ribs. A deafening silence fell on the room, and everyone stood on alert. This was him, the Alpha of the Northridge pack, My new owner. For a second, I was so captivated by his looks that I had forgotten my pains. I had to force myself back to reality when he stood beside me, leaning forward with an icy look on his face. *** “She's the Omega, Alpha Logan.” Xavier nodded, his head still bent out of respect. Logan? So that's his name? The alluring Alpha Logan c****d his head and gave me a quick stare before resting his gaze on Beta Xavier with a look that signified he was expecting more words from him. “She has been checked by the pack's nurse, Alpha. She will be fine in a week, this she had assured us.” Without saying a word, he nodded, his gaze back on my body, lingering on my face for a while. He looked charming yet dangerous and he reeked of an authority one wouldn't dare to challenge. His expression didn't change as he leaned forward, peering into my face. I could perceive his manly cologne, which filled my nostrils and clouded my senses, distracting me from the feeling of dread I was having earlier. I couldn't help but lean backwards as he moved very close to me, with just a few inches of gap between us. “Look at me,” He commanded, finally breaking the palpable tension in the air. His voice was deep and authoritative and, at the same time, intimidating. Unable to meet his gaze, I had my head still hung low. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't bring myself to look into his intimidating hazel eyes. “When I say look at me, you do!” I could swear his voice came as a growl this time, and not only was I shaken with fear, but everyone else in the room was.
