She woke up to someone touching her.
There was a hand on her breast! She’d fallen asleep right after Manny left. She was too tired to think about him or why he’d just left her standing there. She was caught up in her own head, so she didn't even know when she fell asleep.
Another rough hard squeeze and she jolted up.
"Manny?" she called out. The room was dark, she couldn't see anything. But there was someone in there, she could make out the breathing pattern.
"Manny??!!" she called again, this time trying not to sound scared.
She could hear someone moving towards the door. Then the lights came on.
"Relax Princess. It's me."
The voice sounded familiar. She squinted her eyes to make out the figure standing by the door frame. As her eyes got used to the light, she saw who it was.
Bob!!
She could see him now. She tried to cover herself, she didn't even realize she was almost naked.
"What! you embarrassed?” Bob said with a smirk.
Lisa's heart was pounding she grabbed the sheets. Bob took few steps towards her, his face looking different, haggard, rough and untidy like he'd been drinking.
"No need to play shy now" he said. He was sounding all cocky. "We both know Manny's not coming back. He left you didn't he? So why don't we have a little fun huh?"
She swallowed hard backing up against the headboard. "Bob stop this" she said trying not to sound scared even though she was trembling inside and utterly disgusted "Where's Manny?"
Bob laughed.
"Manny? You’re still thinking about Manny? That's cute princess." He ran his fingers along the edge of the sheets and Lisa flinched.
How did he know what happened? Was he watching?
She was about to scream when the door burst open.
Manny.
He was standing there looking at Bob's hand on her sheets. His jaw was tight, his nose flaring as he stepped inside.
"Get away from her."
Bob turned around all slow like he didn't care. "Ah speak of the devil" he said. "What's this Manny? You suddenly care?"
Manny didn't answer. He took another step, his fists tight "I said step away from her."
Bob sighed, stepping away from Lisa. "Relax, have you forgotten I'm your superior? No need to get worked up over a little fun."
Manny didn't move. His gaze was still locked onto Bob, his breathing deep and controlled, but Lisa could see the rage in his eyes.
"You really think you can walk in here and play hero? You forget who we work for?" Bob said tilting his head. "Or maybe you need a reminder. How do you think the boss will feel when I tell him you're getting soft? Risking everything for some girl?"
Lisa turned to Manny, searching his face for a reaction.
“Go ahead,”he said, voice calm.
Bob narrowed his eyes. “You're bluffing”
Manny took a step closer, his voice dropping lower. “Try me.”
For the first time, Bob hesitated. His smirk faltered just slightly.
Manny didn't back down. He held his stare, daring Bob to make a move.
A tense silence settled over the room.
Then, with an irritated scoff, Bob took a step back, throwing his hands in the air. "Fine. You want to play protector? Be my guest. But don't say I didn't warn you."
He shot one last glance at Lisa before turning toward the door. "You just made a big mistake, Manny."
The door slammed. He was gone.
Lisa let out a shaky breath, pulling the sheets tighter around her. Manny turned to her, his gaze softer now.
"Are you okay?"
She nodded, though her hands were still trembling.
Manny ran a hand through his hair, exhaling deeply. "You're not safe here, Lisa. We need to get you out."
Lisa swallowed hard, looking up at him. "And you?"
Manny's eyes darkened. "I'll handle Bob."
