45 MarianneSunday morning, Marianne didn’t get out of bed till ten o’clock. She spent the next hour with the Washington Post spread across her dining table. Scouring for a mention of Rear Admiral Nathan Michaels turned up nothing new. However, the vice-president-elect had reassured the public about the man chosen to become national security adviser. The general had not discussed the sanctions recently imposed on Russia with the Russian ambassador. It looked to her like the general was going to be appointed to the job. Hulk would be only a man mentioned as a contender. Not someone who’d refused a presidential request and become a target for White House revenge.
