This was a “book of my heart”. I wrote it soon after my editor at Zebra Books had told me they were going to stop publishing traditional Regency romances. Instead of being devastated and thinking my writing career was over, I decided to do something crazy and write something completely new and different (this was back before Paranormal Romance had become popular).
I’d always been fascinated with why some people were able to do amazing things—people like Mozart, Einstein, and Gandhi. How was it that they were able to be so much more than everyone else? I decided it was magic and came up for an explanation for their abilities, thus were born the Vallen.
