The Ceremony

Chapter 19 The Ceremony

    Violet threw herself on her new huge bed. "Finally some peace and quiet." 

"Do you want me to leave?" Eli said with a crooked smile turning toward the door.

 "No!" She shouted. Eli chuckled and came over to the bed and sat down beside her. Violet looked up at him stretching her neck for a kiss. He kissed her gently. 

"You did great today." Eli said. 

    "Is it always this busy?" Violet asked.

"It depends on the day.  But generally no." Eli replied

    "Can you give me a little history on our pack.  I feel there must be a lot.  Especially with it being like its own little town." 

"Sure. The pack originally settled here in the mid-1800s.  We gained our wealth from a very smart Alpha in the 1920s.  We are silent owners of many businesses, not to mentions the ones we have in the territory. We have accountants and financial advisors to help manage the money side of the pack. Once a member of the pack shifts for the first time they start collecting monthly checks.  When they turn eighteen they receive shares from one of the businesses. They only get to keep these benefits if they take a job within the Pack.  Each job has a different salary just like in the outside world. You will make a lot of money from being Alpha because you have the hardest job. Kind of like a CEO." Eli smiled at Violet. "Is that enough information?"

    "Yes. Do I help manage accounts with the advisors?" Violet asked.

"No, we have a team for that. They will meet with the advisors and make recommendations for your approval. But you don't run that part. Now I think we should get to bed we have a long day tomorrow."

    Violet yawned and said, "I am tired."   Eli dragged her out of bed and took her to the dresser showing her where her pajamas were then gone and turned down the bed.  Once dressed Violet walked to the bed and laid down in Eli's arms and fell right to sleep. Eli kissed her head "goodnight sweetheart."

    Bang, Bang, Bang. Violet groaned "Someone is banging on the door. Please go get it." Eli rolled out of bed putting on shorts and answering the door. There stood his mother and a very angry looking Cora.

"I called like twelve times. Thank goodness your dad showed up so I could get in." She pushed passed Eli and flipped the blankets off her best friend. "Get up lazy bones we have a ceremony to get ready for.  I am so glad Genevieve filled me in on everything." Charlette walked passed her son, went to the closet closest to the bathroom, and grabbed a garment bag placing it next to the vanity.

    "Eli go get your mate some breakfast so she can take a shower. Then go and get ready with your father." Charlette commanded.

Help! don't leave me, please. Violet mind linked Eli in desperation. 

Sorry, there is no way I am crossing my mom she is on a mission. Eli then turned went out the door.

    When Violet walked out of the bathroom there were two new faces in the room. "Come sit down." Charlette stated "These young ladies are going to help you get ready for the ceremony.  This is Ashley she will be doing your hair and this is Sam she will do your make up." The door opened then. There stood Eli carrying a plate with a croissant, fruit, and a mug of coffee. A collective "awe" came from the girls.  You would think I was getting married with all this fuss. Violet linked to Eli.

    It is kinda like you are marrying the pack. Our wedding will be much better. Violet blushed and Eli then realized he hadn't just thought that last part but linked it to her. He placed the plate down then left quickly. The girls quickly got to work. Ashley braided Violet's auburn hair into a crown around her head.  Putting little white flowers throughout. Giving it the look of a white halo.  Sam put on subtle makeup making Violet look like she had a slight glow.  

    When they were finished Charlette smiled brightly then clapped her hands together "now the dress. Violet, I hope you don't mind I picked something out for you when I heard you were coming home.  I hope you like it."  Charlette opened the garment bag and inside was a beautiful light blue gauze dress. It was off the shoulder, and long enough to hit about Violet's ankles.  Blue lace bordered the bottom and the sleeves.  

    "It's beautiful," Violet exclaimed. "Thank you so much."

"Blue is the color all Alpha's wear for the ceremony," Charlette explained. "It is going to look so good with your complexion."

    Once the dress was on Violet looked around for shoes. "oh honey you don't ware shows for the ceremony it connects to the earth this way." Charlette said noticing her looking. They walked down the hall to the elevator.  When the elevator got to the bottom floor Violet could hear the pack out in the front lawns.  She looked around for Eli but didn't see him which made her nervous.  Christoph walked over to her holding out his arm. She took it.

    "Don't worry Eli is waiting outside at the stage.  It is a tradition for the current Alpha to escort the new one. Since I have been acting Alpha in your and your mother's absence I get the honor. "Christoph started with tears in his eyes. "Your mother would be so proud of you." 

    They soon heard Elder Cecil announce "Rise for the procession of the Alphas" 

"That's our cue," Christoph said and lead her out the front door.  They walked down the steps and through the pack every line they passed the members bowed. When they got to the stage all of the pack was bowed on one knee with there arms crossed over their chest. Eli was on the stage beaming at his mate.  He was in a tan linen suit he put out his hand and she took it walking up the steps.

    Elder Eugene walked over to the podium and started the ceremonial presentation of the new Alpha. "Do you Violet Marie Davenport accept the title of Alpha. To protect the Pack and lead us with dignity." 

"I do"

"Do you swear to uphold our rules and traditions that were set forth by the Alphas before you."

"I do" 

"You will now Sign the book of the Alphas and drink the blood of Alpha's past." Violet looked at Elder Eugene in horror.  He whispered "it is wine. Just symbolism."  Violet signed the book and drank from the cup. 

    Elder Cecil then came to the podium and said: "I would like to introduce you to your Alpha Violet June Davenport." He then gave Eli a necklace. Eli put it on Violet the cress of the Blue Lake Pack. He then walked her forward and the pack howled all at once.

    Violet and Eli were ushered back in the house for lunch and to get ready for their mating ceremony. When no one was looking Eli grabbed Violet's hand and dragged her into the bathroom.  "You look amazing," He said his eyes looking hungry but not for food. He grabbed her face and eagerly kissed her taking her all in.  I can not wait to officially be your Lunar for all the packs to see. He linked while still passionately kissing her. You are all mine I want all of you. Violet moaned in delight then a knock sounded at the door.

    "Come on you guys can't you do that in your room," Alex yelled. "You kiss so loudly."  They opened the door and Eli gave his brother a menacing look. "Mom said its time to get changed." 

    Violet was taken back upstairs where Ashely and Sam were waiting again. Ashley took out the braids and let Violet's hair flow down her back.  Just pinning a few strands out of her face in small twists. Sam changed her innocent look into a more sultry one giving her smoky eyes and a bright red lip.  The dress for this did not have to be any certain color so Cora had gone into the closet and pulled out several different options.  The dress Violet decided on was emerald green and matched her eyes. It was an old Hollywood style satin v-neck dress. It hung straight with minimal flare and a slit up one side that stopped just above the knee.  She wore her Alpha crest and stud earrings.  She looked at Cora and said, "What do you think?"

"If Eli doesn't want you in that then I will take you," She said with a small giggle "You look beautiful Vi!"

    Violet was much more nervous for this ceremony. She just wanted to get downstairs and breathe in Eli's comforting scent.  When the elevator doors opened there stood Eli in a black suit his dark blond hair combed to one side.  He looked up and locked eyes with Violet his jaw dropped open.  Alex whistled earning him a smack on the head by his mother.  Eli walked over to her quickly.  "You look gorgeous. I don't know if I want to share you with anyone else right now. They might see you and challenge me." Eli said with a sparkle in his eyes.  He wrapped his arm around her waist and guided her towards the back door. "We will enter from behind the stage this time and enter together.  You will present me as your Lunar.  The Elders will have us cut our hands and mix our blood symbolizing that we are one in the pack." Eli told her as they walked through the woods to the back of the stage. 

    Violet turned to Eli and cupped his face before going on up on to the stage. Kissed him gently and said, "I love you, Eli."  They then joined the elders on stage. 

    After the ceremony ended they were walking back to the house to celebrate when a scout came running "Alpha there is a rogue wolf seeking asylum at the Anthony Lake boarder. She claims to be running from a rogue alpha who wants to kill her."
