Chapter 17 Slumber Party

    In Violet's small living room sat Christoph, Eli, Alex, Cora, and Charles.  Christoph and Charles told the rest to watch the boundary lines.  "It is nice to finally meet you both officially," Violet said taking a seat next to Eli. "I know you all have questions for me but before you ask them I have a question of my own," Violet said pointedly. "Who is Bacchus and why does he want me?" 

    Eli gave a small growl at this question "He will never have you." He said possessively pulling Violet closer to him on the couch.

"Maybe I can be of service in that department Alpha." Christoph interjected giving his son a stern look.

    "Please call me Violet."

"Violet. You look just like your mother. " Christoph says then shakes his head. He continued "Growing up your mother and I were best friends.  There were three of us actually.  We were quite the band of pups always causing mischief. Your grandpa was always fixing our messes." Christoph was looking off with a distant look in his eyes and smile on his face. "When your mother became of age she started looking seriously for a mate.  We knew that was important but you see one of us was harboring feelings for your mother and was not ready to see her mated up. On the evening of her 18th birthday,  we took her into town to her favorite restaurant.  Our friend had decided to profess his love to her that evening.  We were seated and our server came to our table.  It was your father and your mother's mate.  As you can believe this broke our friend's heart he was constantly trying to pull them apart while trying to stay on your mother's good side. Poor Hazel had no idea blinded by love and loyalty.  When she was made Alpha at nineteen she made me her Beta and our Friend Bacchus her third." Violet gasped at his name.

    "You mean he was one of us." Violet said showing ownership of her pack.

"Yes. He stayed loyal but started to make rogue friends letting them through the territory.  Your mom only found out when one of our she-wolves was r***d by a rogue who was in her territory.  She still did not know it was Bacchus she ordered more guards on the Anthony Lakeside and put him in charge. When she announced your coming Bacchus tried to kill your father.  She banished him from the pack making him a rogue wolf and enemy." Christoph had pain in his eyes and anguish in his voice as he finished his story.

    "She trusted him and he betrayed her.  Why does he want me?" Violet asked.

Charles replied, "Alex told you about the legend of luck and strength of a female Alpha and a daughter born of an Alpha correct?" Violet nodded. "He wants you as his luna so his pack of rogues can overturn Blue Lake Pack and take it as his own."

    "It is his way of sticking it your mom and taking his rightful place." Christoph spat.

    Eli stood up and paced the floor "He will not get his way. I will help train more wolves and we will add guards to the boundary lines." Violet placed a hand on her mate I can handle the orders she mind linked.

"We will need to strengthen our borders my mate is right. I will train with our warriors so I am able to fight.  We will need to reach out to the other packs and see if they have heard anything and I need to meet my pack and claim my spot as Alpha." Violet stated with authority.  Christoph beamed at her taking his right arm and crossing it over his chest.  Charles, Eli, and Alex followed suit.

    "Your mother would be so proud," Christoph said. He stood up and walked towards the door. "I will get the pack ready and your house in living orders.  "We will meet you at 0900 hours. Eli will bring you to the center of the territory."

"Christoph one last thing before you leave.  It was not your fault what happened to my family." She gave him a hug then looked over at Cora "oh and you need to make a room for Cora she is coming too." 

    "Yes Alpha, Thank you." He touched her elbow and went out the door with Charles close behind.

"Bye Dad good to see you too," Alex yelled out the door at his father, earning him a howl in response."What?" Alex said looking around "It's like he didn't even notice us." Eli took his brother by the head rubbing his hair.

    Violet walked to the window and looked out her arms wrapped around her torso. I wonder where he went she thought.  Suddenly there were warm arms around her and the smell of pine engulfed her senses.  She breathed deeply.  Cora soon came beside her laying her head on Violet's shoulder.  This made her smile.  I have everything I could ever need right inside this room she thought and I will do whatever I must to keep them safe. 

Eli broke her internal monologue, "Violet, I think I should stay with you tonight." He kissed the top of her head.  

    "I think so too." She replied. Alex jumped over the couch joining the love fest.

"Woohoo, slumber party. Can we do each others nails and have pillow fights? No truth or dare." Alex said cutting the tension.

    Violet laughed. Cora smacked Alex.  "You get the couch." Eli stated.

"There are blankets and pillows in the hall closet," Violet said absentmindedly.  "He might get cold." Eli rubbed her arms and mind linked I will go get them. You did great tonight my love. She gave him a half-smile and he turned to leave her and Cora at the window.

"Alright, you have a plan and did very well holding your own.  You looked like all the Alpha's I have ever heard about.  Now how is Vi, doing?" Cora looked at her best friend. 

    "What did I do to deserve a best friend who is so perceptive?"  Violet asked. Cora smiled and gave her a look of spill it sister. "I am scared. Not for me but for all the lives I now must protect.  I am terrified I will let them down and I am so mad that the best night of my life is now tainted by a mad man." She took a deep breath. "I will not cry. I will not give him that power." Cora gave her best friend a big hug.

"You are so strong.  You will get through this with your friends by your side." Cora paused and then said with narrowed eyes "Why was this the best night of your life?"  Violet simply pulled her collar down showing her mark.  Her best friend shrieked "Tell me everything."
