Chapter 23

 After Dark

   Violet couldn't sleep. She was happy to see her mate finally asleep after four days of none. He had looked like crap.  She decided to get up and get a late-night snack from the kitchen. She kept thinking about her poor Alex and the choice he had made to mate so early in his life.  She knew when all is said and done he will regret his choice which made her feel sad for him.  She walked into the kitchen and opened the freezer finding a tub of peanut butter chocolate ice cream. She pulled it out and found a spoon. She decided to just eat it straight out of the tub.  She jumped up on the kitchen island started eating.  Tomorrow she would be leading the pack in a birthday celebration for Alex which means spending the whole day with LIz. Just thinking her name caused a small growl to escape her lips.  Then she heard someone coming down the hall. They were giggling like crazy.  She got off the counter and walked towards the door when it swung open and in walked Liz with her lipstick smudged like the slut she was.

    "Why hello Alpha. I am glad to see you are out of your coma. Are you comfort eating you know that is really not smart you might put on a few too many pounds if you know what I mean." She said then patted Violet's belly. "You want to stay attractive for your mate don't you." 

    Violet took a deep breath. "Liz, do you remember what I told you that day in my office?"

"Let's see do you mean the part where you said you couldn't stop me from finding someone? are you regretting the choice of those words?" Liz spat with a smile. 

    Violet stood up feeling her powers tingle in her hands. "I would tread lightly Liz. We both know what is within my powers. If you hurt Alex physically or emotionally I will not hesitate to kill you." 

"You can't do anything to me Alex and I are mates and that is against wolf code." Liz spat.

    "We will see about the whole mate thing.  He hasn't shifted so who knows what will happen." Violet then walked out of the kitchen and left the little w***e behind.

    The party was set but Violet was feeling off all day.  She kept getting dizzy and everyone's voices seemed too loud.  There was still two hours before the party so she decided to lay go lay down.  Cora came into her room "Are you okay Vi. The party will start in an hour." 

"I just need a little more time I will be fine. It is really hot here don't you think Cor? Will you open the window?"   Cora looked at her a little worried. Violet had sweat dripping down her face. She walked to the window and opened it for her best friend.  

    "I think I should go get Eli" Cora said. 

"No, I will be fine in a little while I just didn't get much sleep last night. I will take a nap than be down in time for the party." Cora left still looking worried.

    Violet slept and woke up feeling even warmer.  She decided to take a cold shower and get dressed for the party. Thank goodness it is outside then I won't be so hot she thought.  

    The shower helped so she got dressed in a flowy sundress so nothing was clinging to her. Then headed downstairs to the party.  When she got out there she saw Alex and walked over to him "Happy Birthday Alex!" She said still feeling little woozy she placed a steadying hand on the chair next to her.

    "You Okay Vi, you don't look so good." He then put his hand on her shoulder.

    Violet pulled away "ow that burned." She said "Damn it is hot out here! why did your touch burn so bad." She looked around for water. 

"Vi are you okay?" Alex said again.

    "I just don't feel right Alex I will be fine. Just go on and enjoy your party. I am going to get some water."  She turned to walk and fell into Alex then screamed out in pain. "I feel like I am on fire." She panted.

"Eli Come over here dude," Alex shouted for his brother. He then let go of Violet and handed her a bottle of water. "Eli is coming over her Vi." Violet took the water and started gulping it. She then doubled over from the pain in her stomach.

    "I think I have the stomach flu." She says when she looked up to see Eli's worried face.

"You can't have the stomach flu wolves don't get sick," Eli said he leaned down and whispered in her ear "You're in heat princess. I am so sorry I will pick you up and take you upstairs." 

    Violet's eyes were the size of saucers "I am in heat? Why?"  

Eli grabbed his mother on the way not answering her question. Mom, why is she in heat?   His mother smiled and followed them into the house.

    "Take her to your room she will be most comfortable in a cold shower but you must stay near her." Genevieve said gently.

    "Mom, why am I in heat?" Violet said panting in pain.

"You haven't mated yet.  It is the mate bond trying to get you to complete the bond and make it stronger." she looked at both of them. "I am impressed with the amount of restraint you both have shown.  This will happen every month until the mating process is complete."  Genevieve started the bath then had Eli place her in the tub clothes and all.  She then left them.

    "I am so sorry Princess. I didn't know that this could happen." Eli looked at her so worried.

"It's not your fault just please continue to touch me it relieves the pain," Violet said. "Lettie is trying to take over to relieve the pain please don't let her do anything I want to do this the right way." She moaned fighting her wolf.

    "It's Okay Princess I will not take advantage of you," Eli says quietly. "I won't let this happen to you again." 

    "Eli it's fine." she screeches. "We will wait as we had decided from the get-go. We will not finish until we marry." She started panting again then Lettie took over.  "Please release our pain, Eli. Please." She panted grabbing his hand. 

    "No Lettie I will not do that to you." Eli stated softly. 

Lettie whined, "Then you better marry us quick because this sucks."

    He rubs her head "I know Princess. It will end in 24hrs. I will be here with you it will be alright."

Just then Alex burst through the door.  "Cora and Liz are gone! They left a note."
