Chapter 8 The Visit

     "Violet wake up! Come on you turd!" 

Violet slowly opens her eyes from the shaking. When the person comes into focus she recognizes them immediately.  "Cora.  What are you doing here and why are you waking me up? Don't get me wrong I am happy to see you but I was having such a peaceful sleep."

"You never called me back and I got worried." Cora smacked violet on the arm "You can't do that to me, not after everything you have been through." Cora looked down with tears in her eyes.

 "I am sorry Cora I didn't mean to worry you. You're my best friend.  I won't do it again I promise." Violet sat up on the couch and looked around.  "How did you get in?" 

"That cute kid next door let me in.  Your Uncle sure knows how to pick the help."  she winked at Violet.

"You have no idea," Violet said with an eye roll.  She grabbed ahold of Cora into a desperate hug. "Cora you have no idea how happy I am to see you." 

Cora laughed "I am happy to see you too.  Everything okay?  I hate to say this Vi, but you look awful." 

    This made Violet smile "You always know what to say to flatter your best friend.  I am better now that you're here.  I have so much to tell you. I just don't know where to start."

"How about the beginning. I have a feeling this is going to be good so don't leave anything out." Cora scoots back on the couch facing Violet. 

     Violet explains everything that happened up to the phone call.  How do I explain the whole mother's an Alpha of a werewolf pack and surprise I am a wolf, she thought.  She is not going to believe me.  Cora places her hand on Violet's leg. "Vi, why aren't you telling me everything.  You hung up the phone so suddenly."  She lifts Violets face gently to look in her eyes. "You can tell me anything Vi."

"You won't believe me.  You will think I am crazy."  Violet says with a pleading voice. 

"I won't. Even if you told me something crazy I would be here for you. Shoot if you said you had a Unicorn in the back yard I would ask if I could help you feed it.  We are in this together I promise."  Cora hoped her best friend could see she was telling the truth.

    "Alright," Violet told her about the missing things and running into Eli and the anger she felt when he was so cavalier about getting rid of it.  "I started shaking all over Cora. I had never felt that way before and I growled at him.  Then all of a sudden there was popping and tearing sounds all around me. I felt all tight and then a loud pop like when you go to the chiropractor.  I looked around trying to find the source of the noise when I saw Eli." Violet stopped unsure of how to put it.

"Eli what?"

"He turned into a wolf," Violet said quietly as she watched her friends reaction. "I then ran for it and found a creek in the forest.  When I looked into it I found out......... I was a wolf too." Violet stopped there waiting for her friend to say something.

"So your caretaker is a wolf and so are you,"  Cora said trying not to show any signs of the worry she felt for her friend. 

    "Cora I know it doesn't sound real but I promise its true," Vi said desperately holding onto her friend's hand. "Here maybe this will help you understand." She hands Cora her mothers letter.  

    Cora unfolds the letter carefully and starts to read.  Violet doesn't take her eyes off of her best friend.  She thought to herself if I lose my best friend I will have no one who understands what I have been through. Please, Cora, understand and believe me she mentally pleaded with her best friend.

"wow" was all that Cora said.  She looked at Violet with wide eyes and sat in silence for what seemed like forever to Violet. "This is awesome! Vi, you are just like one of the characters from my favorite werewolf romance novels. I know so much about this topic. Vi, do you realize what this means for you?" 

Violet bit her lip not knowing how to respond. "Cora werewolf books are your thing. All I know about werewolves is what I read in Twilight and scene in American Werewolf in Paris."

"It means you are the rightful Alpha of your own pack.  You are the most powerful werewolf or I should say she-wolf ever.  I have never read of female Alphas.  You're a badass!" Cora stated with awe and excitement.

 "So what happens next?" Violet asks her best friend.  

"You introduce me to your wolfy caretaker he has more answers," Cora said with a sparkle in her eyes.
