He told David his police friend, who always helped him with his criminal activities to get rid of John,there was an attempt but they failed.John was shot in the arm but managed to escape and hid in the forest where later he find his way to a certain bed and breakfast in the area.

God's Glory was the name of the bed and breakfast, it's owners were mother and daughter, Rachel and Mary respectively. John and Mary connected when they first met, though John wasn't in a good condition since he was shot in the arm. John and Mary had spoken on phone earlier, Mary wanted to know about Mr. Samson's funeral arrangement since he was her mentor.They were not aware that they had spoken earlier. Apparently this was her dad but she wasn't aware.Rachel and Samson had an affair earlier before the birth of Abraham.So, Mary was the eldest and the would be heir of Mr. Samson. All this came to light later when John told Mary his story and that their dead father is the one who had directed John there. Rachel had to confess after Mary demanded to know if Mr. Samson is her dad. Mary realised the danger they would be in once Abraham finds out that there's a real heir out there.
