"Thank you so much for coming on such short notice!" Mr. Manchester exclaimed as he scanned his badge to let us into the building. "I really appreciate this. You have no idea!"
Rick, Steve, Mr. Manchester and I all entered the lobby of Hinsdale High. As I scanned the abandoned hallways of the school, I had to admit that the place was a little spooky after hours.
Our footfalls echoed through the empty space where students usually gathered in the morning. Sunlight that usually streamed through the skylight in the foyer was replaced by darkness, creating shadows that seemed to lurk around every corner.
