She returned to work, unable to keep her mind on anything except Jade. As soon as her relief arrived, Akira rushed to her car and drove to Jade’s. She knocked, and Jade opened the door. They hugged and kissed and slipped inside the condo, holding hands.
Akira asked, “Is your mom home?”
“She should be, but she’s working her day off again.”
