Episode 3:The Twin Reflections

488 Words
The hidden door pulsed with moonlight, its surface rippling like water. Lyria hesitated before stepping closer, her reflection watching her with an unsettling calm. The other Lyria—dressed in dark robes embroidered with silver threads—tilted her head and spoke in a voice that echoed like wind through glass. “You’ve finally found me,” the reflection said. “But you’re late. The timelines are already bleeding together.” Lyria’s pulse quickened. “Who are you?” “I am what you could become,” the shadow replied. “The Moon’s Shadow chose us both, but only one can hold the Veil’s power.” Before Lyria could respond, the mirror flared with light. A surge of energy pulled her through, and she stumbled into a vast hall lined with broken mirrors. Each one reflected a different version of Eldoria—some bright and thriving, others dark and ruined. Kael appeared beside her, his silver eyes dim with worry. “You shouldn’t have crossed alone,” he said. “This is the Hall of Reflections—the heart of the Veil. Every choice you make here shapes both worlds.” Lyria steadied herself. “Then tell me how to fix it.” Kael hesitated. “To restore balance, you must find the Mirror of Time and seal the fracture. But the other you—the Shadow Lyria—seeks to claim it for herself. If she succeeds, both timelines will collapse into one.” A low hum filled the air. The mirrors began to tremble, showing flashes of students running through the academy, professors casting protective wards, and the twin moons drawing closer in the sky. Suddenly, the Shadow Lyria stepped from one of the mirrors, her eyes glowing with silver fire. “You don’t understand,” she said. “The Veil doesn’t need balance—it needs freedom. The worlds were never meant to be separate.” Kael drew a blade of light. “She’s lying. She wants to merge the timelines and rule what remains.” Lyria looked between them, torn. Both spoke with conviction, both believed they were right. The mirrors around her cracked, shards floating in the air like stars. “Enough!” she shouted. “If the Veil chose me, then I’ll decide its fate.” She raised her hand, and the mark on her wrist blazed brighter than ever. The mirrors shattered completely, releasing a wave of silver light that engulfed the hall. When the light faded, Lyria found herself standing in the academy courtyard once more—but everything was different. The sky shimmered with two overlapping moons, and the air hummed with strange energy. Kael’s voice echoed faintly beside her. “The timelines have merged. The final choice is coming.” Lyria looked up at the fractured sky, her reflection flickering faintly in the moonlight. Somewhere deep within the academy, the Mirror of Time awaited. End of Episode 3
