“well I just kinda like this look, that’s all" Justin lied, he did nt know how to magically switch off his mana transfer.

“well I just say, it certainly does look good on you" asmodieus bit his lips as he complimented Justin. He sat on the chair and crossed his legs. “we'd have to discuss the race plans as early as we can so you would know exactly what it is you’re training for and your place of concentration”

“okay, okay" Justin nodded sitting on the opposite side of asmodieus.

Asmodieus leaned forward and brought out a large scroll. He opened the deal and left the drill wide enough for the both of them to see. On the scroll was drawn what looked like a map which was divided into three sections. It had several different markings in different colours. One out of them stood out particularly, it was coloured ed with the sign of a skill embedded in it.

“What's that?” Justin asked pointing at the symbol.

“that’s death valley, the most dangerous place in stage one. That is the place where the chaff would b e separated from the wheat" asmodieus said.

“Ah...interesting. so what is this...plan?” Justin asked again.

“you wouldn’t know what the plan means until you know the basic rules and details of the overall game" asmodieus chuckled. “First off, the first stage comprises of three challenges; the beta, the sigma, and the alpha. The beta is the first of the challenges and it is also called the entry stage. This is the simplest stage of all" asmodieus pointed to the first section of the map which had no markings at all and was the shortest section of the three. A blue paint covered the whole first section.

“it is just to make sure everyone who enters is of the required strength needed for the race. The most dangerous challenge, the one which we are focused on, is the Sigma challenge. This is where the real race begins” asmodieus pointed his hand at the she middle section of the map which was covered with various symbols.

“this blue symbol at the top is the dividing stage. There, the participants will be divided into random groups of five. We will all be separated at this stage” asmodieus took a heavy breath.

“then how do we find each other?” Justin asked. If they were to be seperatedthen what even was the point of teaming up?

“we have a way to bypass that. Previous participants have noticed that those who were in physical contact with eacchother usually ended up being in the same team. This has proved to be true for many years and will probably continue this year. But if it isn’t, then you’ll have to find a way back to the team us. An opportunity all be presented during the next stage of the sigma challenge.” He pointed at the orange marking.

“During this stage, the random teams will be pitched against others teams across different areas in the Zugan world. Anything is possible during that stage, it is even possible to switch side’s during that stage. If we are lucky enough to meet then you would switch to my side and visa versa.”

“what if we don’t meet?”

“well then, you’d have to survive till the next stage.”asmodieus pointed at the green symbol. “This is called the gathering stage. All participants will be dropped randomly in a large field with a specific amount of objects according to the number of participants remaining. The challenge is to gather the specific amount of objects, which will be given, in before the time runs out. The earlier you finish, the better. Anything is allowed during this stage so try everything possible to find anyone you’re familiar with s gathering would be easier.”

“what would happen if I wasn’t able to gather that amount in the give time?”

“well...you will be killed" asmodieus said with a sigh.

“oh...alright then.” Justin had no qualms. Since anything would be a lower during that stage he already had a rough idea of what he'd do then.

“The last and final stage of the sigma challenge is the death valley. Like I said earlier, this is the separation stage. It is also the most brutal stage of all.”

“why?” Justin asked

“mainly because the participants are encouraged to kill other during this stage. It will occur in the death valley, a dark mist covered area with air reeking of death. One would be given points the more one kills, these points are what is required to enter the alpha stage s they are very important. The top ten earliest finishers from the first stage will be bonus points in this stage. T isn’t uncommon to see people betray their teams just for the points so be careful of who you walk with"

Justin nodded, understanding the instruction fully. “so the alpha stage, what is it?”

“the alpha stage is called the final selection. There the top ten of stage one will be chosen through battle. It will hold like a tournament and we will all be put in ten groups with one winner emerging from each group”

“what would happen if we are both in the same group?” the was a very important question which Justin longed t know the answer to.

“well then brother, it would have to be every man for himself"
