Operation in Dangerous Areas

Andreas looked at each one with eyes full of anger. “Shadow Ares wants us divided like this. They are strong because they are united behind Ethan's one crazy idea. That crazy man said that war brings peace.” “We are different from them. We fight not to build new destruction, but to stop the old. And that means we must stay together, even if our first mission fails,” Andreas added. There was silence for a moment. Only the hum of communication devices could be heard. Kane, who had been silent, finally spoke in a calm tone. “Your friend Ethan knows what we want. He knows our every weakness, and he will exploit it. We have a choice: stay focused and finish it, or let our egos destroy what's left. I choose the former. What about you?” Victor clenched his fists, stared at the floor, then nodded slowly. “I'm still here. We just need better directions. And more luck.” Tania let out a long breath, easing the tension on her face. “I'll keep trying to decode this. There are fragments of clues that lead to other resources. We can start there. But I need time and protection. If they find out we have some of this, we'll be their main target.” Andreas looked at them all, his shoulders slumped slightly, but his resolve remained strong. “We will survive, and we will fight Shadow Ares. Ethan won't stop, but neither will we. From now on, every step is a tougher fight. We need to trust each other. If we falter, we will lose. And that's not an option.” The team stared at each other in meaningful silence. Perhaps they weren't entirely sure of victory, but one thing was certain: they stood together-with trust that was still fragile, but enough to keep the flame of struggle alive. *** That afternoon... The dim lights in the basement of the headquarters illuminated the tense faces. In the centre of a table full of maps, documents, and satellite photos, Andreas pointed to a red dot on the holographic screen. “This is the location we're after. This war zone is now a den of Shadow Ares. They must be posing as mercenaries to instigate conflict at the border. Our target is here, under a bunker protected by a network of disruptive signals. If we can penetrate it, we'll get the key data to stop them for good,” Andreas explained. Victor crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze full of scepticism. “So, we infiltrate the centre of a war zone guarded by a heavily armed militia, shut down the intruders, and steal their data-without anyone knowing? It's simple, right?” “Nothing that isn't simple,” Andreas retorted with a sharp look. “But, this is the only way. We can't involve anyone, not even General Sinclair. We don't know who to trust. Shadow Ares has spies everywhere. Perhaps, those spies are all around us.” Tania added as she traced the map with her finger. “I'll handle the hacking. Their disruptive signals are designed to render all our devices useless, but I can use hidden frequency paths to break into them. I just need time.” Kane spoke slowly but confidently. “And I'll keep that time. If they try to get close, I'll be the one to deal with them. But we'll need a slicker entrance than before.” “That's your job, Vic,” Andreas turned to Victor. “You're an infiltration expert, right? We'll go in as a relief convoy, bringing supplies to the devastated zone. Shadow Ares won't suspect a thing if we're too late.” Victor nodded, though doubt loomed large on his face. “Okay. But I don't like working in the shadows without full support. It's risky. If Sinclair finds out, he'll stop us.” “That's why he can't know,” Andreas insisted. “This is just between the four of us. No open communication, no traceable messages. We move silently, or we don't move at all.” However, in a dark room far away, someone was listening to Andreas and his team strategising the attack. A small, almost invisible device had infiltrated the audio system of their base. In front of a screen full of flashing data, a masked man typed rapidly, sending an encrypted message to someone unseen. A message appeared on the other end of the secret network: [Operation initiated. Target is moving towards the war zone. Report immediately to the Chief.] Back in the discussion room, Andreas folded the map and looked at his colleagues. “Remember, this isn't just about stopping Shadow Ares. It's about saving millions of lives. Every step we take will determine whether the world survives or is destroyed instantly. There is no room for error.” “And if we fail? What happens?” Victor asked in a flat voice. Andreas paused for a moment, then looked the man straight in the eye. “If we fail, the world will burn, and it will be our fault. But, I have no intention of failing.” The tension between them melted away slightly, replaced by a shared determination. Tania entered the final data into the portable device, Kane slipped the knife into its sheath, and Victor checked the weapons one more time. They were ready for battle. *** Hours later, they moved under the shadows of the night. An old truck with a humanitarian aid supply sign rattled on the rocky road, taking them towards the front line. But in the distance, on a dark hill, the shadowy spy Shadow Ares watched with suspicious eyes, reporting their every move. A new war was about to begin, and the enemy knew they were coming. Loud shocks rocked the old truck as it travelled down the cobblestone road, making creaking sounds from every joint. Andreas sat in the back with Tania, Victor, and Kane, surrounded by fake medical aid boxes full of weapons and equipment. They were all in tense silence, unable to believe what they had just seen. Now only the roar of engines and the sound of wheels broke the atmosphere. “We'll reach the border in two minutes,” Victor said in a low voice as he peered through a gap in the truck's wall. “Once we pass the checkpoint, don't make any suspicious movements. We don't have a second chance.” Tania checked her communication device and detonator again, her face serious. “If they find out who we are prematurely, we're finished. I'm ready to switch off the signal jammers when we get in. Make sure we stay alive until then.” The lorry came to an abrupt stop with a loud thud at the first checkpoint. The heavy voices of militia soldiers could be heard from outside, speaking the local language. Andreas raised an eyebrow, signalling the others to remain silent. The truck door opened. A tall, heavily armed man climbs in with a suspicious look. He stomps on one of the boxes with his dust-covered boots, then fixes Andreas with a piercing stare. “What are you carrying?” the man asked in a rough accent. “Medical supplies for people trapped in the war zone,” said Andreas who answered calmly, using the local language almost perfectly. He gave a friendly smile, though his hand was already fingering the butt of the gun behind his back. The man then squinted, after which he kicked a nearby box, causing the lid to almost pop open. Tania's heart leapt into her throat at the sight of the tip of the gun hidden inside the box. Suddenly, the sound of an explosion was heard from the other direction. One of the guard posts exploded into a fireball. A shrill alarm sound split the air. The militia soldiers gasped and turned around. “We've been spotted! Move now!” Victor shouted. Andreas immediately drew his gun and shot the guard in front of him. The man's body fell hard to the ground, causing a rumbling sound inside the truck. They jumped out as bullets started whizzing around them. A second explosion shook the ground near the truck, throwing debris into the air. Kane fired at the enemy from behind a barricade made of rotten wood. “We don't have much time! Tania, do something!” he shouted. Tania ran towards a signal jamming terminal hidden in the corner. Her hands moved quickly, inserting a cable and activating the device. “I need ten more seconds! Hold them off!” she ordered.
