"I can’t work with you following me everywhere I go," Beth told Kaleth in an exasperated tone.
Smiling as though she’d just told him the best thing ever, Kaleth looked up at her from the floor, where he was currently pressing a toy truck against her ankle. Apparently, he was in need of some rough terrain for his exploration and had decided her body would do.
“Go back to your toys. You can’t follow me.”
"Beh," he said, which at this point covered a range of meanings Beth was slowly becoming fluent in. They typically translated into ‘I hear you’, ‘I disagree’, and her personal favorite, not, ‘that is simply not going to happen’. Seriously, the child had a very efficient way of getting his message across.
