Ten to twenty-five. That was how many years they were likely to get if they got convicted of k********g Kaleth Burns.
But the fact was that they hadn’t kidn*pped him. At least, not from his father’s house. Beth had only gotten him from the original kidnappers. Was a thief who stole from another thief still considered guilty? She wondered.
And most importantly, would they be able to prove that she had gotten Kaleth from the warehouse? Suddenly, the missing security footage carried more importance. It was the only thing Beth could think of and wanted to discuss.
Avi had other ideas, and they didn’t involve discussing their potential imprisonment.
Keeping her back straight and face calm, Avi walked Beth to the stairwell door. She kept her voice low even though the corridor was empty.
