“I have to get going.. i need to get home” He paused before saying
“Jimmy, can you please cover up the few remaining hours for me. I’m not feeling too...”
A well fit middle aged man, with a well defined physique said to his colleague but before he could complete his words, Jimmy waved his hand off, indicating to him that he can go.
Borden nodded back with an appreciating smile before dashing out of the construction company with the same appreciating smile still plastered on his face. Few steps out of the building, his face suddenly turned cold, and only got colder by the second.
‘What is this unsettling feeling. This feels familiar and at the same time strange’
He thought but he kept his facial expression calm still.
Rushing back home in the middle of the night, the first thing he checked out was Morncloud’s room. But meeting it empty only intensified the bad feeling in his very heart.
‘What happened. What could possibly go wrong?’ He only kept on asking himself internally, while he kept on looking for his son.
After contemplating for a while, he decided to report his missing boy to the officials. He went to the door in an attempt to go out but immediately his fingers were laid on the door handle, it blew off into splinters.
BOOM!!
The sounds of small explosions were heard as the main entrance door was blown off with Borden behind it.
A stiffled groan was heard from Borden and before he could regain his senses, the sounds of rushing heavy footsteps were heard. Borden got overpowered by some men, then dragged out to an unknown location.
SPLASH!!
The sound of water being splashed was heard, followed by a tired growl.
Borden was tied hands back while on his knees. The light in his eyes were unfocused as he stared down at the ground. He looked confused from the incident earlier. He tried to find his voice and raise his thoughts. He raised his head abruptly to observe his surrounding.
That’s when he realized he was still in the woods, under the shade of a large tree.. but it’s morning already. Raising his vigilance, he noticed some armed men patrolling around the place. Then opposite of him, a familiar body, that was cutting a sorry figure was tied to a pole beside a camp tent. Borden’s expression changed as he called out impatiently
“Morningcloud..”
He called out a few times before getting an almost subtle response.
Morncloud’s head was weakly hanging low when Borden saw him. Hearing his name being called, he weakly raised his head to look, as he called out unbelievably
“Dad...”
A roll of tear could be seen on his really bruised face as he called out tiredly.
This sight only caused Borden more pain as a raging anger started swelling in his heart. At that moment, Borden noticed some armed men coming in their direction. They were being led by an hard face man. Borden could do nothing but to direct his beastly glare at this group.
In no time did the group arrive before Borden. An armed burly guy with a hard stare stepped forward and moved behind the restrained Borden before forcefully shifting his face upward to stare upward, straight at him. Then the burly man moved back, joined the ranks of his colleagues, right behind he who was leading them.
Not after all this did the leader spoke. His appearance is that of a shrewd old man with a glint of life shining in his eyes. His name is Mr Patterson.
“You are really the hard type huh. But you can choose to live or die if you cooperate”
He spoke vaguely but the threat in his voice could be heard clearly.
Without waiting for Borden to reply, he suddenly stared at the weak and rough looking Morncloud before chuckling as he said evilly;
“He is your son, I suppose. He’s a tough one too. But not for long!”
Close to the last sentence, his face only got scarier.
