Ignoring Borden’s plight, the shrewd looking old man only smiled wider before abruptly stopping. Turning his head back to Borden’s direction, he grinned widely;
“So shall we..” He smirked
“....”
Borden silently agreed. Seeing this, Mr Patterson nodded satisfyingly before turning his head and pointing his finger at a jaggy cave not too far away in the distance.
“You live around here, do you know what this is?”
Mr patterson asked while still pointing at the jaggy cave.
“A cave..?” Borden replied begrudgingly.
“Not just any cave right?” Mr Patterson countered as he narrowed his eyes dangerously.
“I don’t understand what you are talking about. Release my son, he’s innocent”
He retorted, almost pleading.
But all he got as a reply was totally out of expectation.
“Kill the boy” Ordered, Mr Patterson
The glint in Borden’s eyes flashed dangerously as he struggled hard to escape his restraints but to no avail.
“No no please. Tell me what you want. Don’t lay a hand on him, he’s my only son” Borden tried to reason with him dejectedly. This seemed to work as the supposed killer was stopped in time.
A lopsided grin could be seen on Mr Patterson’s face again but an impatient one. This was noticed by Borden as well, making his heart skip a beat. He feared for his dear son’s life.
“So I’ll ask you this again. What do you know about this place or this ground?
Tell me a secret” He continued asking leisurely as a stool was brought for him to sit on.
Borden stared silently, with a subtle signs of inner struggle and hesitation;
“I really don’t know. I know nothing. You can do anything to me but please let my boy...”
He was pleading but before he could correlate his words...
BANG!
BANG!!
Sound of gunshots rang throughout the expanse.
Hearing the gunshots, Borden stared down at his body body subconsciously, but no holes were found in them. He was confused for a moment before he suddenly raised his head and stared ahead slightly in realization. Narrowing his eyes in slight shock, Morningcloud’s head could be seen hanging limply on his neck, as his lifeless gaze neutrally stared at him.
"No!!!!"
THUD!!!
Dropping to the ground was Morncloud's body as it went cold. Time seemed to pause for a moment.
His dad's eyes went red bloodshot, screaming his lungs out.
"Morningcloud!!!!"
"Mornclo.. Morncloud!!" He couldn't help but stutter.
His whole body shook, his spine went cold.
Turning his head, glaring back at the one who took the shot and he who gave the order, Mr Patterson.
"What have you done! You dare kill him!! Why would you???”
He emphasized every single word slowly. Sadness could be felt in his voice, overlapping with grief.
Gritting his teeth, anger painted his very mind crimson, subconsciously releasing a very strong unusual killing intent, making the group of mercenaries swallow hard. A dark contrast to how weak he looked few moments ago.
Silence!!
The atmosphere turned heavy.
On one side was Borden on his knees filled with despair, keeping his head down with so many dark thoughts running through his mind, corrupting his thinking.
On the other side was Mr Patterson and his men looking at the poor man in despair, coldly.
It seems this is just a usual situation to them, this is not a new thing to these men. It could be very well confirmed in the aloofness on their faces.. like the life that was taken was not a human’s.
