Strange phenomenon

799 Words
On the other side... As screams of pains and horror echoed far off in the woods, Mr Cole and his group with some few mercenaries were on their heels, trying to escape the scenario. But unfortunately for them, the butcher doesn’t seem to want to leave witnesses. Borden, acting on pure anger, extraordinarily closed the distance between them in mere seconds, with just a simple move of jumping into any nearby tree shadow and appearing far off out of another. Impossible!! Cutting their way off abruptly as he appeared in front of them out of the shadow of a sixteen meters tall tree. Making those fierce men shriek out loud in fear. They are seeing more than a normal human can process and accept easily in just few hours. This is just too absurd and inhuman. Does such thing even exist on God's Earth?? Not wasting anymore time to mutter a single word. Moving no more than two fingers, Borden spread the shadows flatly. They seemed to be alive as they condensed in a flat circular shape on the ground. Wide enough to encompass his spot and the ground under the other party’s. When looking at it from the sky, all you would see is a dark circular shaped floor, created in the middle of the wide green grass. And the more you look at it, the more it resembles an lens. They all forgot to breathe in shock, talk less of begging for their lives.. their damned lives. They all accepted they were done for, after seeing with their own eyes what had happened to those before them in plain sight, with no mind tricks at all. Because the next moment, long, sharp and sturdy looking spikes, formed out of the shadow floor itself with a dark purple glow to it, rose from the now dark shadowy ground. WHOOSH!! It moved faster than the speed an average man can react to. As such, bodies started dropping before anyone could say jack. One after the other, slowly but precisely. No normal human would have expected that kind of out worldly display of power. No one could react fast enough. Every single second costs a body, with no idea of who is next. This kind of mental pressure are sometimes less preferable than a quick death. Their predator seem to be doing this intentionally as well.. he seem to be enjoying their torment. Close to the end of this c*****e, with more than fifty percent of the escapees dead as they could be, the sky started growing dark. Initially it was quite unnoticeable. But unusual as it could get, it was noon and still it kept getting darker with a speed visible to the naked eye. Even darker than an eclipse of the sun. Borden turned his eerily twisted gaze upward to the sky in confusion, staring at them with questioning eyes as he totally diverted all his attention to this strange phenomenon, prompting him to halt his ongoing m******e. He had stopped his onslaught as quickly as he had started but, there were no more than six people remaining. This include Mr Cole, three out of four of his team and two pale-from-fright mercenaries. Noticing the pause in the omen of death that was looming over their head and the current phenomenon taking place, They stiffly turned their gaze to the sky as they kept shaking in their frame. They were visibly confused about what was happening but the terror of death they felt a couple of seconds ago still lingers.. the omen of death they couldn’t even fight against. Narrowing his vision, Borden could notice some strange dots of light. Still veiled though by the strange, thick, dark clouds. But they got brighter with each passing seconds. RUMBLE! RUMBLE!! CRACKLE!!! Sound of thunder crackling could be heard but there was no thunder in sight, yet. Listening to the rumblings, a deep primal fear clawed at Borden's mind. Intense goosebumps swallowed him whole without warning.. a violent goosebumps that made him lose concentration for a few seconds. And for the first time since a very very long time, as long as he could remember, Borden felt deep fear. A very dark feeling even he couldn't explain, but the question remains; What could have stroke deep fear in him? Even with the level of supernatural power displayed by him. With his highly inhuman abilities.. the level of danger sensed was nothing but overwhelming. But there was more to come; the next moment, thirteen pillars of dark blue light came blasting down simultaneously with terrifying speed like a meteor. And the last one which is the fourteenth, came a couple of seconds late. Their land destinations were unknown at the moment. But looking very well at the trajectory... holyy s**t!! "Morningcloud...."
