Immeasurable emotional breakdown dawned on the lady’s heart. She has just gone to the police station half an hour ago. Hysterical almost smacks her focus not only she pulled herself together. She was rained with distress while sitting on the bench she was asked to stay for a while. Her mind seemed racing a mile per minute, musing over the possibility she had fallen onto. Her inner self pleads for a chance this can be solved. Her eyes tearing up slowly, and she at least tried to calm down.
Across the light teal ceiling and over the white walls her eyes trailed.
“Sir, put him in jail. He got me robbed down the avenue!”
“You f*****g have the guts, Jun, to play around a lot of girls! Sir, I’ll file a complaint against him. One thing, he cut his financial support to our kids.”
She happened to eavesdrop from the two new arrival complainants over the reception desk. Though, the desk officer explained that there would be a place for complaints and concerns. The station was quite piercing from chatters among the people here.
“Guillen Rivera,” a policeman in his 50s approached the lady.
Despite her legs moving a bit wobbly, she managed to stand upright and faced the policeman. “Mister Officer, I’m Guillen,” she said tautly.
“Let’s get to the interview room for further details about your complaints. This way, miss.”
She paced along behind him, following his steps. She brought with her a hobo bag and backpack containing her clothes. After a few strides, she found herself in a busy room. Her eyes roamed around only for her to conclude that they were also complainants like her. She took a seat across the officer later she was offered.
“Guillen Rivera, uhm…” the officer paused and read something on a blue notes. “… you wrote here on our logbook that you got scammed. Kindly elaborate more about this concern so we can have our hints who might be responsible for it.” His eyes darted back and forth to the form and her.
“I’m originally from Sherrill, Mister Officer. I was recommended by a friend of mine to her colleague to work in Germany as a housekeeper. And yeah, our flight was supposed to be this morning, but she didn’t make it… or I don’t know. I kept calling her for several times, but her phone was out of reach already,” Guillen explained, and a cold rush down her spine made her shrill once again. Her feet were way closer to get paralyzed.
“How much have you paid, Miss Rivera?” the officer asked, rubbing a finger against his chin.
“A placement fee for 1,000 bucks.” Her utterance was evident in her stammered voice. Her bags remained in their position, and she just puffed thinking how much money she lost and closed her eyes straight from the floor.
“Well, miss, we’ve been receiving reports like yours and from other stations about this matter. And for that, we would surely set our alarm to scamming. Only a signal from our heads would have the scammers behind bars.”
Clearly, she had no enough energy to cry. A tear seemed to be running on steam. It was warm that dived down her cheek. And it followed nothing, but a tensed muscle in her knuckles.
“We’ll just call you until further investigation,” the officer continued.
She nodded impassively and wanted to scream right here in frustration. It was almost verge on her tongue she yelled out in regret. If only she would not go through her plans, she could barely experience this way.
“Thank you, Mister Officer,” she replied and bothered to save up some energy promptly before rising up.
The officer felt the crippling brewed in her system. “Miss, would you like me to call a cab for you?” he offered like she had someone waiting for her somewhere or a place to stay in. Well, she has to find one tonight.
She smiled briefly and heaved a sigh, tight-lipped. “Thanks for the offer, but I can manage. I gotta go, Mister Officer.”
She headed out of the station and stepped onto the tarmac. Fate did not seem quench from what she struggles at the moment. She stayed at the threshold, sinking onto the hunched chair attached on the wall. She was beyond anguish and exhausted.
“Oh, yeah. Save it, bro. I love Yesha,” a man in his casual white long-sleeved shirt said from the entryway.
A sergeant chuckled and replied, “Desperate engineer. You’ve taken more than a year courting her. Aren’t you sated? Come on, a lot of girls want you. Just entertain one and another.”
In her messy state, she snatched a glance sideways, attempting to see the two sounded gleeful. Her mind kicked back into gear as if she tasted the energy a little too short.
“Well, just in love, bro.”
“Come on, Dix, you’ve done so much effort. It’s time for change.”
“You see, Sergeant Jayvee, it’s no use for me if I get to change Yesha into someone not better than her.”
“Look at that lady. She can be anyone’s ideal girl – tall and sexy.”
That phrase made her eyes flick in their direction. But she quickly looked away after learning they were staring at her as well. A slight scoop around her body she made in her arms right before she sat frozen. Even just a fleet of the one whose comb-over hair inked raven that appeared full, she got distracted easily. She could not deny that fact that he was dashing even she was not able to examine the edges of his face.
“Shut up, bro! Anyway, I’m off. I still need to visit the site.”
Without further moment, a light action from her feet dared move. She strode down the street and did not bother to glimpse at them once more. She thought there was nothing to dampen her distress except a cold shower. But how can she do so?
She has to go in search for a boarding house.
