CHAPTER FOUR

1126 Words
The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the village. The air turned crisp, and a strange wind whispered through the trees, as if nature sensed trouble ahead. The village, once bustling, now lay in silence, broken only by rustling leaves and distant hoots of nocturnal creatures. The ground shook, as if something wicked was approaching. In the distance, a deafening rumble grew louder, echoing through the frightened villagers. With fear in their eyes and hearts pounding, they looked out from their windows, watching the advancing darkness with dread. The Dragon King appeared, a powerful figure on horseback, casting a commanding silhouette against the fading sky. Dressed in dark armor that absorbed the light, his face hidden behind a golden mask, he emanated a sense of pure evil. His presence drained the warmth from the air, leaving a chilling atmosphere in his wake. His loyal troops marched behind him, their armor glinting in the fading light. With strong auras, their faces hidden beneath dark helms like their leader's. The clatter of their boots on the cobblestone streets echoed hauntingly, sending shivers down the spines of all who heard. The Dragon King and his army moved forward, heading towards the palace. Frightened villagers rushed into their homes, securing doors and closing windows, desperately seeking safety from the approaching threat. Fear overwhelmed them, suffocating the air. Mothers clung to their children, whispering reassurances that offered little comfort in the face of their terror. The village square, once full of life, now stood empty. Only the wind blew through the vacant stalls and market carts. The Dragon King surveyed the deserted scene with his cold stare, his eyes shining with wickedness in the darkness. With the sun's final rays gone, the village was consumed by darkness. The only light came from the faint glow of the moon, casting an eerie light on the cobblestones. Shadows twisted and danced, taking on strange shapes that seemed to taunt the scared villagers. The villagers remained hidden, their trembling bodies pressed against walls and corners, waiting for the terrifying presence of the Dragon king to pass. The air was filled with tension, as if even the village itself held its breath in fear. And so, the Dragon King's march continued, leaving behind a village paralyzed by fear. But within the depths of their trembling hearts, the villagers clung to a l glimmer of hope, maybe the Dragon king was in konica for a different purpose, a different purpose that exceed destroying the entire kingdom. . . . . . I couldn't avoid the darkness surrounding me. The room was completely silent, creating a strange atmosphere. Then, in an instant, a distant sound broke the stillness— The sound of fluttering wings, gradually getting closer and louder. A glimmer of joy appeared on my face, and a slight smile formed on my lips. "Ah, Corvus," I whispered, my voice filled with longing, as the crow found comfort on my shoulder, offering reassurance. Slowly, my vision began to sharpen giving me a clear view of my surroundings. The walls of my room were adorned with faded portraits, abandoned furnitures, and ancient tomes resting on the shelves. A slender ray of sunshine delicately made it way into my room, through the very small window and casting its warm glow on the scene. Birds chirped in the distance, their melodies filling the morning air. It was a beautiful sunrise, a stunning display of nature's beauty just outside my confined space. I longed to explore the captivating world before me, but my godmother's strict rules and her magic kept me trapped in the cabin. I was a captive observer, unable to experience the wonders that awaited beyond the walls. With a stern tone, laced with disappointment and frustration, I said, "You utterly deserted me yesterday, Corvus. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable." "I'm deeply sorry, my lady. It was never my intention to cause any offense. You were angry and I thought you needed privacy ," he paused, his voice filled with remorse. "I sincerely apologize." To everyone else, Corvus appeared and sounded like an ordinary crow. Even my godmother, with her powers, could not understand his words. Yet, for reasons unknown, I possessed the unique ability to understand every word that escaped his beak. His voice had the clarity of a regular human being. Understanding his message, I sat down on the soft expanse of the bed, the weight of the situation sinking in. The crow remained on my shoulder, a comforting presence. "I understand," I responded, my voice reflecting acceptance. "My godmother said that a very powerful king will grace our kingdom with his presence today. Perchance, have you heard of him?" "I have indeed heard of him my lady, but I have yet to lay my eyes upon him," he murmured softly. "The villagers have spun countless tales about him, painting him as a monstrous figure, a being spawned from the depths of hell itself. They say he is a demon, that is why he hides his face behind a gleaming golden mask. But there are others who tell a different story." A sigh escaped my lips as I composed my thoughts. "For some reason, I find myself yearning to see this man, to witness firsthand if the rumors hold any truth. I want to know if he possesses the great power godmother attribute to him." "That, my lady, would be an unwise course of action," he cautioned, his voice laced with concern. "It is far better to maintain a safe distance from such a man. Moreover, the spell casted by your god mother around this cabin seems impenetrable, leaving no means of undoing it" A heavy sigh escaped my lips as I sank deeper into the soft embrace of the bed, my thoughts swirling with despair. "Am I destined to spend the remainder of my existence trapped within these walls? Trapped for all eternity?" I queried, my voice filled with frustration. "I am certain," he replied, his tone both reassuring and wise "that your godmother has reasons for confining you here. There must be a good purpose behind this seemingly endless captivity, my lady." "I cannot remain imprisoned here forever, Corvus," I whispered, tiredness tugging at the edges of my voice. With a heavy sigh, I closed my eyes tightly, as if shutting out the world, and turned away from the sight channeled through Corvus' eyes so all I could see was complete darkness. Desperation filled my being as I yearned for an escape, somewhere far away from this prison. Darkness enveloped me, as it always did, my constant companion as I succumbed to the embrace of sleep. It was a life I had grown use to, a existence cloaked in shadows.
