34 In an attempt to avoid invoking Mrs. Greyson’s wrath yet again, Slim pulled a rain-soaked business card out of his wallet and dialed what was left of the Lakeview’s number, leaving a message on an automated voicemail to say he was staying overnight in Plymouth. Then he wandered about until he found a cheap hostel near the Hoe, taking a private basement room. The library opened later than the last buses ran, and also contained a far greater newspaper archive.
