  The market was busy today. Our town had a big town square and every Monday it was full of people because of the market. Almost everyone in our little town went to the market and bought food and other stuff they might need for that week. The market was split into different parts that match the ones of the town. We had a part for the rich people where the expensive stuff is. A part where the cheap stuff lays for the poor people. And something in between them. We call that part the mid. 

  I live in the mid. I used to live in the rich part but because I chose to live with my lover Kayden, I live in mid now. I like to help other people and I couldn’t do that while living with my family. Maybe I should have waited with making a choice. When I’m alone in my bed I wonder if I made the right decision. I don’t really think that Kayden is committed to this relationship anymore, and it makes me doubt myself. Sometimes I just feel lonely. At those moments I wish I was back with my family. But I don’t think father would let me back now, they already have enough problems without me. Now is not the time. However, I feel like my relationship with Kayden comes to an end. I just hope it doesn’t come too soon.

  Today I needed food, some clothes for me and Kayden and medication because that was almost all gone. Kayden works as a guard and that is why he gets hurt and wounded a lot. So every month I buy medication for him. The clothes are for the moon festival which starts Wednesday. 

  The moon festival is three days every three months where we honor the gods for giving us our powers. I haven’t found out what my power is but I hope it’s something cool. Some people can control one of the elements, others can read minds, there are also people who can cook super good or can do hair and makeup without learning how to do that. Of course, there are also bad powers. For example, some people can let whole buildings explode by just looking at it. There are so many powers. Can’t be all good. 

   Kayden's power is that he always hits a target if he shoots or throws things. That is why he decided to become a guard. He also has a protective nature, so it was just the most logical choice. He really enjoys working as a guard. He can protect everyone against bad people. but another part is helping the rich carry things, he isn’t a fan of that. He also doesn’t like to punish poor people who steal to survive. He sometimes complains about that when he has a day free, which is a rare occasion.

  All people go to the big cities for the moon festival. At night we build big fires where we dance and laugh, where we can forget our lives and problems for a while. Some people show their powers, which is always beautiful. 

  This year Kayden and I go tho the capital of our land. It lays at the sea and there are always the most beautiful fires and power show off. I used to go with my family every year but after I decided to go live with Kayden I haven’t been there anymore. I am so excited. I hope it will be as beautiful as I remember.

  After I got everything I need from the market I decided to go to the stall of the orphanage. Every Thursday I go to the orphanage to help take care of the children there. They make jewelry to sell on the market to raise some money to take better care of the children and so that they always have something to do. When I arrive I see Annabelle, one of the older kids behind the stall.

  “Hi Anna, how is business today?” 

  “Hey Nahla, we sold already quite a lot and it’s still early so that is good. Everyone wants something pretty to wear for the festival. I heard you go to the capital this time, you must be excited.” 

  “That is good. You heard right, I am going to Walten City. I know how beautiful it is there so I’m really excited indeed. Is the orphanage going to Bellan?” I questioned. Our country is called Walten, so they decided to call the capital after that: Walten City. The closest town is Bellan. Kayden and I normally go to Bellan but Kayden insisted to go to Walten City this time. I always tell him about that and he wants to see it for himself.

  “No, there are too many people for that. We only go if the number of orphans is low. It’s a bummer but it gives us time to clean the town. The town keeper Michael is paying us to get the town cleaned so that will keep our minds busy.” She states. I feel sorry for them. The town keeper, who is the most important person in the town and basically owns mid and poor, can be a bit cruel but at least he will pay them. That eases the pain a bit.

  “It’s good he will pay you.” To lighten the mood a bit I decide to change the subject.

  “I’d like to buy a bracelet from you.” I point to a beautiful bracelet. It has blue stones with a pentagram in the center. The pentagram is known to expose your power. And when you found your power to let you control it better. I give Anna some money.

  “Good choice, I see you tomorrow I hope?” She says.

  “Of course, see you tomorrow.” I wave her goodbye and go home.

   The walk home isn’t very long. I was only in the mid part of the market. The roads in mid are small and it smells awful. Because they're so small it’s also dark. I always get a little scared when walking here. The first time I came here the smell was so strong to my idea I felt like I was dying. I was also very scared and felt like I could be murdered any second. Luckily that didn’t happen and now I know where everything is and what places to avoid. The houses are made from stone. In poor, the smell is worse and the houses are from wood. Every time there is a storm those houses collapse. Luckily there is a large stone church where they can stay if there is one.

   In our town, the houses are made from black stones mined in the vess mountains. Those are the closest to us. It’s a mountain range near the sea. The vess mountains are also called the beach monster because of the dangerous look and it’s hard to cross. When Kayden and I go to Walten city we will travel around it. If those mountains weren't there we would travel 1.5 hours instead of 3 hours.

   When I’m home I put my stuff in place, food, and medicine in the kitchen and clothes in the bedroom. Like most people, we have a two-story small house. downstairs we have the living room, kitchen, and storage. Upstairs we have a bedroom, bathroom, and a small study. We painted all the walls white for a nicer look. I decide to clean and then cook something for myself. Kayden always works late and therefore doesn’t eat at home. 

   Cleaning always goes quickly. I try to let the house be as organized as possible. In the beginning, cleaning was a problem. At home, the servants always cleaned everything. But I asked some servant if I could help clean my room so I knew what to do when I went living here. Now I help the elder people clean their houses and I enjoy doing it. I never ask for money to clean. I know they can’t effort it. I don’t need it either, Kayden makes enough money to live from. 

I decide to make myself some burger. Once I’m done eating I go sleeping so I’m well rested for the orphanage tomorrow. The orphanage is always very tiring and if I’m not fully rested I can’t help as much as I’d like to.
