Chapter two.
Theon’s POV.
“I think something stained your black shirt,” Raiden my beta said, and I checked it. I quickly dust off my shirt and let out a groan, relaxing in the car and I groaned, my head aching. I couldn't help but wonder if I was imagining things.
Raiden cleared his throat, snapping me back to reality. I raised my head up, my gaze met with his.
“Spill it,” I commanded.
“Why did you ask us to stop earlier, as If you felt something?” Raiden asked, his eyes fixed at me.
I hesitated unsure of how to explain the strange sensation I had felt earlier that had driven me to request for a stop.
“I felt nothing, I wanted to inhale the sweet smell of alcohol,” I lied and he gave me a curt nod.
But Raiden’s gaze lingered, his expression thoughtful. “Why?” He asked, his voice low. “Is everything okay?”
I gave him a curt nod. “Drive,” I commanded.
Earlier I had felt a jolt of electricity, which was weird. I felt like maybe I had sensed the mate bond. That was why I had asked him to stop but when I checked around I found no one.
I couldn’t tell Raiden about it because I wasn’t really sure if it was the mate bond or I was just imagining things.
“What if it’s the mate bond?” My wolf, Liam asked, his voice low and husky.
I chuckled, a mischievous grin spreading across my face.
“If the moon goddess did go along with the request, I would happily break her!” I said, my voice laced with a hint of excitement.
In our world, the mate bond is a sacred bond, decreed by the moon goddess herself. But, I had always rebelled against it. So, I had made a bold challenge to the moon goddess: to break the mate bond without rejecting my assigned mate.
As I thought about the mate bond, a surge of frustration coursed through me. Why would the moon goddess dictate who I spend the rest of my life with?!
So, if the moon goddess decides to grant my request, I will make sure I break the bond without rejecting her.
I couldn’t help but smile mischievously as I contemplated the challenge ahead. It was time to take control of my own destiny.
Darcy’s POV.
The early morning sun shines and I groan as I stretch my body yawning. My eyes darted to the clock . Oh my goodness I’m late for class.
I stood up immediately, and I rushed to the bathroom, took my bath and headed to the class. I had slept late last night spending the whole night thinking who the hell my mate was.
I couldn’t help but wonder if he would reject me or not? I was happy that the moon goddess had given me a second chance by giving me a mate, but then again, at what cost?
I was torn between happiness and fear, my heart racing with questions. Would my mate reject me publicly? Or worse, stay with me out of pity?
I couldn’t bear the thought of either. Maybe it would be better if we never crossed paths again.
I slipped into the classroom, relieved to see that our teacher hadn’t arrived yet. I sighted Lydia, she was sitting with some group of girls and I rushed to her side, I sat down beside her.
“Good morning,” I said softly, trying to contain my smile.
Lydia raised an eyebrow “You are late.”
I shrugged, feeling a bit sheepish. "I overslept,”
“You were probably daydreaming about your mate,” she teased me, and my face turned red.
“Stop it,” I said, as I playfully hit her arm. I told Lydia about the mate bond last night and she was extremely happy she was anticipating it more than me.
“Someone can’t wait to be smooched by her mate,” one of the girls said, her voice low and husky and they burst into laughter.
I looked away blushing. “She can’t wait to stay on the bed and be moaning his name,” Lydia teased and my eyes widened, smiling.
“Ewww, stop it Lydia,” I whispered, which made them laugh the most.
“What’s eww, I promise you once you see him, you will want to be all over him. The mate bond is a powerful thing.” One of the girls whispered.
Lydia grinned mischievously. “He will bend you over, and make you scream his name.”
I rolled my eyes, smiling. “You are impossible.”
I can’t believe they were discussing something like this so openly. How could they do it?
“Darcy looks quiet. I doubt she would love screaming.” One of their voices snapped me back to reality.
“Darcy, tell me, do you prefer screaming or not?” Lydia asked me, grinning.
“Uhh?” I mumbled and they laughed at me.
How was I supposed to tell them I have never done this s**t before? My ex mate rejected me a day after finding out that I was his mate.
As if reading my mind, Lydia spoke. “I have a lot to teach you!”
“I don’t want to,” I mumbled, shifting my gaze away from her.
“Oh, come on, Darcy! You can’t let one bad experience hold you back,” she said, as she leaned closer, her voice low and husky.
I shifted in my seat, feeling a bit defensive. “Thank you, but I’m not interested,” I said, fidgeting my hands.
“When your mate goes out seeking pleasure elsewhere, you will come running back to us,” one of the girls said.
“And by that time it will be too late,” another chimed in a low tune.
“But we will give you a shoulder to cry on when it happens,” Lydia added.
But I kept quiet, playing with the tips of my book. I won’t lie, they make me want to have a mate right now.
“I think we should go to the club this weekend,” Lydia suggested. I stared at her confused.
“Why?” I asked.
“Dummy, so we can see if we can meet your mate again,” she responded.
“Ohhh,” I pouted, not knowing what to say. Do I really want to see my mate or not? I stared at Lydia. A part of me wanted to see my mate but another part of me was terrified of getting hurt again.
Someone ran inside and announced the teacher was coming.
“Later,” Lydia mumbled, and we scrambled to our seats.
My pen fell on the ground and I knelt down to pick it up when I heard the class greeted in unison.
“Good morning sir,” they greeted him.
I raised my head up and my eyes met with his. Ava let out a loud growl. “Mate!” She growled. Her voice is low and menacing.
And I gasped, my mind reeling in shock. “The Lycan king is my mate?!!”
