Alpha's Domenico's phone vibrated as he received a text from his mate, Madeline, requesting for them to meet in the woods. He was puzzled, yet curious why she would wanna see him this early. Narrowing his gaze at the wall clock hanging on his wall, Domenico could confirm it was just 7:25 a.m.
“What's she up to? She could have called to inform me about this.” He said, sighing heavily. At that moment, one of the maids ran into his room, interrupting his thoughts.
“Alpha… Alpha, your father was found dead in his room.” She said, running out almost immediately.
Domenico jumped on his feet, panic gripping him hard. He dashed out of the room, heading towards his father's room. As soon as he was in the room, he was met with a devastating sight – his father was in the pool of his own blood.
Chloe rushed into the room in no time and she ran up to Domenico, holding him in a warm embrace.
“So it's true? I couldn't believe it when the maid told me about it.” She shook her head repeatedly, consoling him. “So Madeline finally succeeded in achieving her aim of killing the king.”
Domenico's eyes widened. He reflexively grabbed Chloe's clothes firmly. “What did you just say?”
Chloe's voice faltered, feigning sadness. “It's the truth, Madeline had always told me how she planned to have the King killed because he never approved of your relationship with her. I never thought she really meant what she said.”
Domenico couldn't believe his ears. He glared at Chloe, still holding onto her cloth. “Are you sure about this? I will definitely come for you if you are lying to me.”
“Of course, I'm sure, Alpha.”
“Okay then. In that case, I have to leave.” He said and headed towards the door when he felt someone's hand grip him.
He turned around and it was none other than Chloe. She was on her knees, tears in her eyes.
“Do not scare her away or she will run to cover up for her crime. Instead make it seem like you don't know what's going on, then humiliate her openly for killing your father. It's as simple as that. That way, her ego will be utterly destroyed and she will be brought to book.”
Domenico hesitated for a moment before nodding. “That's fine, I've heard you.” He said and quickly stepped outside and drove to Sinclair Avenue where he parked a car by the roadside and sauntered to the woods searching for Madeline, but no sign of her approaching anywhere. He looked angry, curious, and impatient as he drove past the large chunk of trees.
Suddenly, he smelled her scent from afar. That was when he knew she was nearby. He screamed. “Anabel, where are you?” Yet, no one responded. His eyes widened and turned blue as anxiety hoarded his face. Now, he could tell she was in danger
He paraded the woods in anger and sniffed the atmosphere to discern it and confirm if Madeline was nearby, but it wasn't working. He repeatedly called her cell phone, but it wasn't reachable.
This got him angry and prompted him to vacate the woods. But then, his instincts prompted him to halt a bit, which he did. And behold, he spots Madeline approaching from a distance smiling and looking so radiant.
With the smile hoarding Madeline's face, it was evident that she was happy.
Meanwhile, Domenico was burning with anger. He wanted to yell at Madeline and ask her why she had to kill his father yet act like nothing happened. But then he remembered Chloe's words;
‘Make it seem like you don't know what's going on, then humiliate her openly for killing your father. It's as simple as that. That way, her ego will be utterly destroyed.’
“Why did you take forever to show up? You got me worried about you. For a second, I thought you were in danger. Learn to stick to appointments.” Domenico's voice was harsh and impatient.
"Take a chill pill. I apologise for making you go through the stress. I didn't intend to…"
"Save it! I don't need your damn apology. Why are we here? Your text was worrisome. I needed to show up immediately after I received it,” Domenico interrupted the apology. He was becoming too impatient and curious. Her apology meant nothing to him.
“Okay. I know you are mad at me for keeping you waiting for so long. I mean, you've got every reason to be. But guess what? What I am about to say will blow your mind. Trust me,” Madeline smiled and blushed.
"Blow my mind? Tell me about it. You know I am horrible when it comes to guessing.”
"I'm pregnant. Excited, right? I am too. We'd be having our first child. This calls for celebration. I'm pretty sure your father would be so elated to hear this.” Madeline unleashed the bombshell and jumped for Joy.
She had always yearned for an opportunity to be glued to Damian for life, now she has got one.
"You kidding right? This is nothing but a mad joke. Are you pulling another stunt on me?” Domenico's mouth widened in a fly-catching position. He couldn't believe his ears. He thought it was a mere hallucination, but unfortunately, it was reality scrubbing his face in the mud.
"Joke? Of course not. Why are you shocked? You should be happy about it. You've always wanted to start a family with me. You said it yourself. If you are still doubting, here's enough proof. I guess it's enough to arrest your conviction.” Madeline slipped the pregnancy test result on his palm to back her claims. He glanced through, looked at her in the eyes, and shivered like a kid. He was glued and remained speechless.
"Wow! This is more serious than I ever imagined. So what are you going to do about it?” Finally, regaining himself, Domenico stunned Madeline with the provocative question.
"Me? What about us? We need to start planning how to raise a family. Your father needs to know.
It's about time you introduce me to your pack as Luna. Don't you think so?”
"In your wildest dreams! You're never gonna become my Luna. Never! Not when you killed my father. You are lucky I haven't locked you up and exposed your dirty act.” Domenico said.
Madeline's eyes shot out. She was speechless as her eyes remained glued to Domenico, wondering if she had heard him right.
“You think I killed your father?”
“Of course, yes. Or can you deny it?” Domenico asked, now glaring at her. “Making you the Luna of the New Age Pack will be a slap on my face. I'll become the Alpha of the New Age pack and I definitely do not want to rule with a murderer by my side. I require someone better than this misfit standing in front of me. You've got the IQ of a toad. As for the bastard you're harboring in your castrated womb, I can swear it's not mine. So terminate the pregnancy! If you need money, I'll be so generous to assist you,” Domenico proclaimed and denied the pregnancy outrightly.
He was ready to defend himself as he claimed the pregnancy test result was forged.
Madeline did her best to make him see reasons, but he was obstinate.
His decision still stands. “Terminate the pregnancy. It's not mine”
Madeline was traumatized, shocked, dumbfounded, and lost. At some point, she wished the ground would just open and swallow her. Life had suddenly become worthless, and she feels death is the only remedy.
First, she lost her parents in a cold-blooded assassination by some Male wolves while she struggled to escape. Just when she thought her relationship with Domenico was gonna erase her horrible memories, it only worsened it.
“You're so despicable! How did I end up with you? You fooled me into thinking you ever loved me. How could you even believe I would kill your father? How?!” Madeline yelled, breaking down in tears. “In you, I thought I found my mate, which the moon goddess had destined for me, but now I know the moon goddess detests me. She watched helplessly while my parents were killed. And now you? To hell with you! Damn you, Domenico,”
“Guards!” Domenico motioned for his guards and in no time, they arrived, standing before him. “Have this woman thrown out of this pack. I don't want to see her anywhere close to this pack anymore.”
"She's finally gone. No way I was ready to accept that pregnancy. I'll become the next Alpha werewolf of the New Age pack. I should display the traits of good leadership, and getting married to a murderer isn't one,”
Domenico said after her departure.
Madeline might be his mate, but he never loved her genuinely. He capitalized on her emotions when she lost her parents. He considers her a misfit to become the mother of his child, let alone the Luna of the New Age pack.

A few months into the pregnancy, Domenico hasn't called or shown up to inquire about her pregnancy. He never bothered to find out if she kept the baby or died attempting to terminate it. Having a baby for the first time without assistance, she had a difficult moment surviving alone. Countless times she reached out to Domenico over the phone, but he never responded.
"I curse the day I met him. Domenico has successfully ruined my life. How do I survive this? I could have died by terminating the pregnancy. I made the best decision by keeping the pregnancy,” Madeline muttered in agony and bemoaned. She wished they didn't cross each other's path.
Her immune system and body were gradually developing into a woman, and the thought of raising a baby alone scared her. She knew the significance of having both parents when hers were still alive, and she was never gonna allow her child to suffer the pain of not growing up with a father.
"I need to relocate to Michigan and get him off my head. My child must not live in the same city with that son of a bitch.” Madeline made the shocking decision.

The light of the new day peeked into Madeline's room as she itched her blurry eyes and motioned to the window. “Michigan is cool though. I would have moved when my parents passed away. It's never too late to get it right. I pray that bastard doesn't find me. I'll be fine without him," she assured herself.
The pregnancy seemed a lot heavier, restricting her movement to a far distance. Less than a month after she arrived in Michigan, she gave birth to a boy whom she named after her father, Ivan.
