Chapter 2: Olivia spent the next few days poring over research on Jameson Grant and his company. She spoke to former employees, scoured public records, and dug up old news articles. But the more she learned, the more confused she became. There were certainly allegations of unethical behavior and corruption, but there were also plenty of people who praised Jameson's business acumen and philanthropy. It was hard to know what to believe. One night, as she was working late in the office, Olivia received a call from an unknown number. She hesitated for a moment before answering. "Hello?" she said. "Ms. Price?" a deep, male voice asked. "This is Jameson Grant." Olivia's heart skipped a beat. She had never expected to hear from him again after their interview. "Mr. Grant," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "What can I do for you?" "I'd like to invite you to dinner," Jameson said. "To discuss your article." Olivia was taken aback. She had expected Jameson to be angry with her after their last encounter, not to invite her to dinner. "I'm not sure that's appropriate," she said cautiously. "I assure you, Ms. Price, it's strictly professional," Jameson said smoothly. "I'd like to show you that my company has nothing to hide." Olivia hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing. "All right," she said. "When and where?" "How about tomorrow night?" Jameson suggested. "I'll send a car to pick you up at your office at seven." Olivia agreed, feeling a sense of excitement mixed with apprehension. She wasn't sure what to expect from Jameson, but she was determined to get to the bottom of things. The next evening, a black SUV pulled up in front of Olivia's office. A driver in a black suit stepped out and opened the door for her. Olivia climbed into the back seat and settled in for the ride. The car wound its way through the city streets, eventually pulling up in front of a towering skyscraper. Olivia recognized it as the headquarters of Grant Industries. She stepped out of the car and followed a uniformed doorman through the massive front doors. Jameson was waiting for her in the lobby, dressed in a sharp suit and looking every inch the successful business tycoon. "Ms. Price," he said, offering her his hand. "Thank you for coming." Olivia shook his hand and followed him to the elevator. They rode up to the top floor, where a private dining room had been set up for them. As they sat down to dinner, Olivia tried to keep the conversation focused on business. But Jameson was a skilled conversationalist, and he effortlessly shifted the topic to more personal matters. They talked about their families, their hobbies, and their travels. Olivia found herself opening up to Jameson in a way she hadn't expected. But as the night wore on, she began to feel a sense of unease. There was something about Jameson that didn't quite add up. He was charming and charismatic, but there was a hint of darkness lurking beneath the surface. As the evening drew to a close, Jameson walked Olivia back to the elevator. "Thank you for coming," he said, offering her his hand once again. "I hope you've seen that my company has nothing to hide." But as Olivia stepped into the elevator, she couldn't shake the feeling that Jameson was hiding something. She was determined to find out what it was, no matter what it took.
