My phone rings an incoming call as I fold my clothes. I walk over to my vanity and see Jeremy’s name flashing on the screen. Leaning it against one of my perfume bottles, I sit on the chair.
I swipe to answer. “Hey! You haven’t called in so many days!”
I wince and pout. “I’m so sorry.”
He sighs dramatically. “It’s okay. You’ll just have to buy me a gift this weekend.”
I nod and smile wide. “Okay. Your wish is my command.”
A frown overtakes his face. “But why didn’t you meet me on Saturday? Mom said you told her not to drop me at yours.”
My smile vanishes from my face as I fiddle with my hands to form a lie. “I….. I had to go to an event with Matthew. Sorry. But we’ll have extra fun this coming one!”
His eyes lit up excitedly. “Can I stay over!? Last time was so fun!”
