“February 17th, 2002, the Arizona police force recorded the death of Sofia Vermin, sister of the deceased Teresa Creeper.” The news reporter aired at the scene of the murder. "The police arrived at the crime scene after receiving a phone call from an anonymous person at 7:34 A.M. today. They found the battered body of the late Mrs. Sofia Vermin on her kitchen floor with an axe next to her and in front of her was a deranged teenager holding a knife with blood on her. People believe Elizabeth Creeper is responsible for the death of her aunt..." "She's innocent, Inspector, let her out," Aaron Vermin, Sofia's husband, shouted at the Inspector, who was ready to leave the police station to attend another crime scene. There was only one person Aaron Vermin loved most in the world, and that was Sofia. Elizabeth sat shuddering in the cell with blood on her white shirt and purple joggers. The memory of the incident earlier disturbed her mind. _Flashback_ Elizabeth grabbed a knife from the fruit bowl as she heard the sound of Sofia whimpering and pleading. Elizabeth was shaking in fright as she walked towards the kitchen. She could see blood on the island. "Aunt Sofia," Elizabeth called softly. Her gasps were raspy as she walked. She stealthily entered the kitchen and saw a figure holding an axe to her aunt. Immediately she saw his face, her vision went blank, and the blood of her aunt splashed onto her body. When she regained her sight, the figure was gone - the same figure she saw in her dream. Her aunt's body fell to the ground, and just then, the police came marching into the kitchen. _End of Flashback_ "Constable," the Inspector called the outstandingly tall, fat man behind the counter, feeding himself to stupor. "If this man stands in my way again, put him behind bars. I'll assume he's stalling me from visiting the Rodriguez's on purpose." "Yes, sir," the fat constable stood to salute. Aaron Vermin wasn't ready to back down. He fell to the ground and broke into tears. “I killed my wife,” he confessed, his body shaking. The inspector and other policemen who were about to leave stopped and looked at him. “Do you think this is a game? Do you have any idea what could happen to you because of what you just said,” The inspector growled angrily at Aaron. “She wanted to leave me a year ago. She brought in divorce papers and begged me to sign it but I refused,” Aaron stared at the ground with wide eyes. The whole police station was quiet, listening to his confession. Elizabeth stared at him in confusion, she knew it wasn't him. “How could I when she was the only reason I ate three times a day! If she left me, there was no way I could go back to the streets. I pretended to love her and made her sign a life insurance that if she died, all her properties would belong to me. It was a perfect deal. I wanted the money all to myself…” he chuckled suddenly like a maniac but still in tears. “so, I killed her.” “And what was Miss Creeper looking for in the kitchen at that time?” The inspector asked and Aaron gasped. “I put a pill of molly in a jug of water in the living room. I wanted to act like I did it all on the influence of drugs so, it wouldn't be entirely my fault. But then, Sofia called me, she was angry. I went to meet her and when I returned back to the living room, I saw Elizabeth drinking from the jug. I wanted Sofia so bad that I took an axe and killed her. But, then Elizabeth appeared holding a knife. So, I ran away.” The inspector stared at him, still not content by his response. He was Elizabeth's uncle after all, so it was normal for him to cover up for her. “Why then was there blood all over Miss Creeper and you are clean?” The inspector questioned. Aaron whimpered,” I wore a black coat and gloves. I hid it in my room.” Elizabeth watched him unbelievably. Was he really the one? After all it wasn't the first time she'd mistaken people for that same man in her nightmares. Her vision did go blank which could be an effect of the drugs on her. “Right Elizabeth,” Aaron suddenly smirked and looked at her. Elizabeth stared at him in horror. “Sergeant Kyle,”The inspector called and the tall skinny blonde behind him came out and saluted. “Yes sir,” “How did the caller describe the figure she saw?” He asked, staring emotionlessly at Aaron. “A tall person with dark hair…” Kyle's eyes widened in remembrance then he looked at Aaron. “dressed in a black coat.” The inspector took out his g*n and pointed it at Aaron. “Constable, arrest him.” “Yes sir,” The constable cuffed Aaron and held him up. The inspector walked to Aaron with gritted teeth and eyes full of anger. “Lock him in solitary until trial. Leave the girl in the cell until trial.” He spoke to the Constable while staring at Aaron, still trying to catch a hint of lie in his eyes. “ and I'll make sure you get sentenced to life.” He moved back. “Take him away,” Elizabeth stood up and held the gate of the cells. Her eyes were blurred with tears. “Uncle Aaron, I know it's a lie. It can't be you… It can't be you!” **. **. ** It was March twenty third and the court hearing had already begun. The lawyers had proposed and opposed and it was left for the judge to give his verdict. Everyone's eyes moved to the judge as he hit his mass on the table. “The court has given its verdict; Mr. Aaron Vermin, husband of Sofia Vermin, is found guilty of forcing his wife to sign a life insurance form and is also found guilty of the murder of Mrs. Sofia Vermin on seventeenth of February 2002. The accused, Miss Elizabeth Creeper is found not guilty of murder. The court sentences Aaron Vermin to imprisonment for as long as he may leave and since traces of Molly was found in Miss Elizabeth's blood, we are not convinced it was entirely Mr. Aarons doing and thereby sentences Miss Elizabeth to a Rehabilitation center in North Carolina where she'd complete her education. The court is hereby adjourned.” He hits the mass on the table. A Police officer drags Aaron out of the Court. Elizabeth looked at him, her face was without makeup, she seemed lifeless. How could her uncle betray her like this? “Let's go,” Officer Madison holds Elizabeth up. Elizabeth catches sight of a figure in all black sitting in the row next to hers. “Whatcha looking at, move?” Officer Madison persists. Elizabeth followed her and looked back at where the figure sat but it was gone. Just like it always did.
