Mrs Carter kept telling angrily, her voice filled with disappointment. All Molly could do, was hide her face in shame, Nathan focused on his make ignoring his mother grilling behaviour.
" Why is no one listening to me huh? You should send her immediately, our name can never be given a commoner." She spitted out angrily. " Why don't you find someone of your own size huh? I thought, her good for nothing uncle was actually giving you his daughter and not his maid" she said in disgust, taking a sip of her wine.
Molly took the courage to stand up for herself taking everyone unaware. She gave Mrs Carter a deadly stare, giving her a sign to stop but she wasn't having it.
" I'm not some kind of trash or a gold digger as you think, I am also a human like you. Don't you ever underestimate me ever again!" She fired back angrily. They all gasped in shock, no one have ever spoken back to there mom before, not even there dad.
" Do you think I want to be here? I had no.."
She was cut off with a welcoming slap from Nathan, she staggered back in confusion, making her hear weird sounds in her ears. She stared at him as tears streamed down her cheeks, she was dumbfounded.
" Sir Nathan, I did nothing wrong. Why did.."
" How dare you speak back at my mom? Who the hell do you think you are?" He asked, raising his arm up but was quickly caught by his dad.
" This is the same reason why I prefer staying in London, can I know the major reason for this drama? Nathan, you suppose to defend your wife and not lay attention to your mom's foolish speech!" He cursed.
" I'm right in front of you and yet, none of you could show any respect to my presence. Morever, this is a family dinner, it shouldn't be ruined because of you and your mother. Have a seat!" He ordered.
Molly sat down beside Nathan, staring at the beacon served. She had lost her appetite already, her uncle did make a big mistake by giving her out to the wrong hands.
" Aren't you eat?" Nathan unconcerned tone came , sending shivers to her spine. The man who she had to live with as her husband just raised his hand on her because of his mother.
" I'm fine!" She simply answered.
She tried holding onto her fork but her nervous state got hold of her as it kept falling repeatedly. She couldn't get her mind at a place, all she wanted at that moment was to leave the Carter's mansion. Everyone at the dinner room noticed her nervousness and kept a steady eye on her except Mrs Carter.
She got frustrated and made an attempt to stand up, but was held by Nathan. While trying to get his hand off her, she mistakely swift the glass cup off the table.
"Careless!" Nathan muttered, with a smirk hidden at the Conner of his lips. " Could you be more careless, this is the Carter home where mistake isn't really accepted easily. Believe me, you won't really like mother's mood. Dad can't even save you this time. " He whispered in to her ear, his hand still griping hef arm, staring into her eyes.
" Let me go Nathan, I did nothing wrong! That was just a mere mistake. You're hurting me." She yelled in pain, as she tried to free herself from his grip. " Please let me go!" She cried out, tears streaming down her cheeks.
She sat back quietly, staring at Mr Carter with a blur vision. He shook his head, leaving the dinning room without uttering a word.
" Go to the balcony and get the required stuffs to clean this up. No one would love to get buries, it's summer for crying out loud." He smirked, letting go of her arm.
" Seems, your bride is quite stubborn son! She can't do things appropriately, is this how she wants to represents our organization? " She sighed, staring at her in disgust. " You are too dirty! " She added, rolling her eyes.
Molly was not ready to give into any bodies command, not even the woman who calls herself her mother inlaw, she stood up running towards the door. This time no one made an attempt to stop her.
" Oh my goodness! What did I miss? " A blonde yelled, walking past Molly. She went directly to Mrs Carter pulling her into a hug.
" I'm so sorry mom! My flight actually got delayed by those Pisty attendance at the airport. But the good news is I'm here, with you all. " She said, taking a seat beside Nathan.
" Hey baby, I missed you." She cooed, pecking his lips.
" Why is the new bride by the way?" She asked staring at the table.
Molly, stared at her looking quite lost in her own thought. Who the hell I the stranger that walked into there home and was accepted with open arms?
"Oh! Are you the new bride dear? Sorry I didn't notice you. It was kind of dark at that Conner. She is a pretty one." She said pouting her lips at Nathan.
" Oh, sorry for my manners. I'm Flora Finn, Nathan's fiancee. And let me guess, you're our very own special Molly!" She chuckled, Molly stared at her confusedly.
" Oh! Tsk tsk, don't give me that look dear. Don't tell me my silly Fiance didn't give you the details about everything." She said, rolling her eyes.
" I'm sure you are aware that this.. all this is nothing but a contracted marriage right? I would have taken the position though but I'm quite too busy darling! I have a company to take care of and my reputation too." She smirked.
" However, how do you cope with Nathan? I know he must be really hard to please, it's just you an old nanny Gladis. Don't worry, it's just for a period of time. It will be all over soon." She cooed.
Molly shocked her head in disagreement, running to towards the door. The chit chats and laughter faded.
