3. OUR ANGEL IS BACK

568 Words
CURTIS’S POV “How could you let her go?” Ben asked, following me back into the office. He was annoyed with me but not as much as I was with myself. FLASHBACK Angel? She took off her sunglasses, revealing those gorgeous blue eyes. It really was her. I couldn’t believe it after all this time. “Angel?” I asked, mere seconds away from reaching out for her. I wanted to hold her. Feel her under my fingertips to check she was real and not another hallucination. “Miss Dawson,” she corrected. She looked away from me, a look of disgust in her eyes. Did I do something wrong? I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. She was different. Her hair was longer. She was dressed more maturely, almost too modest for her beautiful body but in a weird way it just showed off her new curves. I couldn’t remember her having those before and neither did my friend that I was trying to calm down. He was fighting me, ready to spring to action. I forgot what effect she had on me. I watched her intently, barely listening as the annoying duo rattled on. Angel was texting someone, smiling to herself. Was she flirting with someone in front of me? Was she seeing someone else? My fists clenched. Whoever that jerk was I would find out and scare him away for good, that was something I could guarantee. I disturbed her from her direction by butting into some long winded speech I had heard before. The softness in her face disappeared. Never before had I witnessed this fierceness from her before. It was a massive turn on. When she suddenly blackmailed me, I stood up so I was right in front of her. I could smell the coffee on her lips and the rich perfume on her neck that I so desperately wanted to kiss. I would do anything to have her in my arms right now. “I’m not afraid of getting burnt.” She hissed at me. God damn her words had strength. I had to sit down quickly and try and cover my hardness. I got my phone out my pocket. CURTIS: ANGEL IS HERE. BEN: DON’T JOKE WITH ME. CURTIS: I SWEAR TO YOU MAN. THE PAINFUL ERECTION I HAVE RIGHT NOW IS LIVING PROOF. GET YOUR ARSE HERE NOW. BEN: KEEP HER THERE. I’M ON MY WAY. CURTIS: I’LL TRY MAN BUT SHE’S NOT THE SAME INNOCENT GIRL WE REMEMBER. When I looked up she was leaving. I tried to stop her but she wouldn’t have it. Why was she trying to avoid me so much? In the elevator she made sure her colleagues stood between us and she led them away the minute the doors opened. Where are you Ben? I followed her outside when Ben showed up. Of course he had to look cool as he got off the motorbike and I saw her reaction for a minute I thought we had her, but then her face of coldness came back. We watched in silence as she drove away. END OF FLASHBACK “There was something different about her, Ben.” He looked away from the window, as though he was searching for her out on the streets. “What do you mean?” “I’m not sure but I intend to find out.” Ben looked at me and saw the mischievous look in my eyes. “I can’t lose her again,” I confessed. Ben came over and put my hands on my shoulders. He grounded me, bringing me back to reality. “Neither can I. So let’s get the girl we love back.” Now that was a mission I could agree to.
