28 The next day at work, Smith was a complete wreck. Not only did his girl turn out to be a reporter, but his father was the one f*****g with the company’s finances. And he’d done it by screwing the employee pensions, no less. He honestly didn’t know who he felt more betrayed by right now. Smith showed up to work late. He walked past Cameron’s empty desk as if nothing had happened, but it felt like a physical punch to the gut. Once he got inside his office, he shut the door and leaned his back against it.
