“Oh, you are a dear,” Lisa murmured. The corners of her eyelids crinkled as she leaned forward and rubbed the tip of her broad nose against Rachel’s, playfully. She snuggled her forehead against the girl’s cheek and rested there, drowsy and happy. All at once, though, her eyes snapped back open. “Oh!” exclaimed Lisa, suddenly remembering. She removed her pudgy arm from Rachel’s hip and raised it to hold her wristwatch above them for the girl to see as well. “You know,” the woman said in gentle tones, “I do believe that someone has gotten out of class just a while ago…” The dark-eyed girl blinked up at the dial of the jeweled watch. “Dr. McEvers’ ‘Intro Psyc’ was done twenty minutes ago,” she confirmed quietly.
