“There you are, Prince Zohar. I’ve been looking for you.” Princess Daphne said with a smile, bright lantern in hand. “What are you doing out here in the dark?”
Zohar glanced over to her and shrugged. “I’m more comfortable in the darkness, how about you princess? Are you looking forward to spending the rest of your days in the forever cloudy lands of Zarek? There’s no sunshine where we’re going.”
Daphne’s smile faded a little. “I’m actually…scared of the dark, my prince. Is that true? It’s always dark in Zarek?”
He nodded. “Always dark, and we have a four-month long snow season. That’s why they are called the Dread Lands. May I ask a question, Princess Daphne?”
“Of course you can.” She said taking a few steps forward.
Zohar thought for a moment for the right way to start the conversation. “Before the proposal, was there another man in your life?”
Daphne was slightly confused, unsure which answer to give. “Why do you ask, my prince?”
“I’m asking because I think there was.” He said lightly, making sure he didn’t sound upset or anything.
She slightly nodded. “There’s this Lord I met when we held the last banquet dinner for Ros-Titian’s rulers. His name is Ellik Fora. We danced and had a really wonderful time together. He courted me for five months, until my mother got the proposal. But it’s fine, I am more than happy to be marrying you.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Are you really? Because the way your face lit up talking about him, makes me think otherwise. Tell me princess, what was your first thoughts when you were told that you are supposed to be marrying the Seventh Progeny of King Virote?”
“You want honesty?” She asked, and when he nodded she continued. “I was absolutely terrified, still am. I don’t mean to offend when I say these things, but your…scary. Your intimidating, powerful, a soldier, and I’m pretty positive consummating the marriage is going to kill me.”
Zohar chuckled. “Human men are really that much smaller?”
Daphne giggled as she nodded. “Significantly. I meant it when I said comparing it to Bell’s stallion.”
“You flatter me, princess. Let me ask you another question. If it was completely your choice, no consequences, no King or Queen forcing you, would you choose to marry me or Ellik? I promise you will not offend me in the slightest.” He said, setting the bait.
She gave a slight smile. “Truthfully? If I was free to pick, I would pick Ellik. I love the sunlight, and summer. I love living in Ros-Titian. What scares me the most, is living in a place where humans are few and far in between. What’s it like for a regular human in Zarek?”
Zohar shrugged a little. “Depends, some Vampyr’s have human slaves for blood. Some are free citizens, but you will be the only human that is not a slave in the palace.”
Daphne’s smile fell. “That’s…scary.”
“Another thing I should tell you, is there will be constant danger. My siblings will always be trying to kill you, they try to kill each other’s partners all the time. In two years King Virote will be going into a hibernation like sleep for an undetermined amount of time, and when that happens all his Progeny’s, my siblings, will fight for the crown for 24 hours. Whichever Progeny is able and standing, gets the crown.” Zohar explained, watching Daphne’s face twist into one filled with horror.
She swallowed hard. “I hear about the Progeny’s always fighting, but trying to murder their spouses? What would that accomplish?”
Zohar was doing his best to keep a straight face. “To throw the Progeny off their game, or send them into a depression so they don’t have the will to fight for the crown. The Second Progeny’s husband was killed last month while they slept.”
“Stars have mercy…Prince Zohar…I…” Daphne started, but lost her voice.
He sighed. “I think all of this should have gotten explained to you before you accepted the proposal. In order for you to survive in Zarek, I’m going to have to Turn you. That way you have a better chance of not dying at the hands of my siblings.”
Daphne rubbed her arms. “I wasn’t told about that. Prince Zohar, I don’t want to be a Vampyr.”
“I know that. So, we have a problem. King Virote wants our heir to rule Ja-kkar while we rule over Veliam, but none of that will be possible without you Turning. All my siblings have to do is poison your food or drink and you’ll be gone, but as a Vampyr you’ll be harder to kill.” Zohar said while rubbing the back of his neck.
Daphne shook her head. “But, I’m not in line for the throne. My older brother is.”
Zo’s eyes narrowed. “Older brother? You have a sibling?”
“Yes, he’s been in Stian for the past ten years learning. He led an expedition to find Advent City’s lost royalty as a favor to the Chancellor, but when my mother dies or is ready to give away her position he is supposed to come home and be crowned King. That’s why my mother was allowing me to marry someone who was not a prince, I have no rights to any throne.” Daphne said with a light shrug. This information was common knowledge for everyone close to the Princess and Queen, and even the people of Ja-kkar.
It took everything in Zohar to keep calm and not go off on Daphne. “I was misinformed then, well…this is an interesting turn. Princess, how attached to this engagement are you?”
Completely shocked, she took a step back. “Prince Zohar, I…”
“Come now, answer me truthfully.” He said gesturing for her to speak.
Princess Daphne let out a deep breath. “Not very, if you still wish for my honesty, Prince Zohar. I’ve been thinking a lot about life after the wedding and for some reason I think I am not fit to be the wife of a General. I can’t save myself from your siblings, that’s why I have Rosabell. I’m useless! I’m just a human. I can’t go to Zarek! No one told me about having to literally fight for the crown! I’m used to peace and calmly having power! No! What am I going to do?!”
Zohar put his hands out. “Calm down, princess. Just break off the engagement. I’ll let you without protest.”
She glanced over and raised an eyebrow. “You think it’s as easy as that?! My mother is going to have a fit! Maybe since she only said yes to the proposal because she wanted me to marry a wealthy man she’ll be okay with it! Yes, that sounds good, right?”
He shrugged. “I’m sure you’ll find someone.”
Daphne nodded. “Okay, so, I Princess Daphne reject your proposal for marriage. Was that official enough?”
“It was perfect. Do you feel better now?” He asked seeing the smile appear on her lips.
“Holy stars, I really do!” She said with a giggle. “Oh, I’m sorry it wasn’t fit between us. You need someone more…like you.”
Zohar smirked on how accurate that was. “I agree. I’m sure the Queen will understand when we explain that it’s more life and death than you two thought. Your pretty delicate, Princess Daphne.”
She smirked back. “I’m only a human, Prince Zohar. Well, will you at least walk me back to camp? I don’t remember which way I came from.”
Delicate and gets lost easy, he thought as he held out her hand. “I’ll lead you back.”
“Good, then I’m going to try to not have nightmares of your siblings while I sleep and in the morning making Bell take me home. I hate being in nature.” She said with a tired huff. “Plus, I have a Lord to call on.”
It was around 5 in the morning when I felt energy getting closer. I sat up trying to feel out what was there, but nothing. I walked our perimeter three times, and didn’t find a single thing. So, I started heading back to the camp. My head was filled with ‘whys’ and ‘what if’s’. Why am I stuck with crappy odds all the time? Why did it have to be Zohar the princess was marrying? What if it wasn’t and I had never seen him again? What if the King has me imprisoned for ruining his plans? But technically I didn’t, since they didn’t account for Ginno who’s been away from Ja-kkar for a long time. Before I showed up here.
Then I felt it again. Power. It’s almost as if it was unstable. I tried to focus on it, but it was jumping around from one point to another. Then something flew by my right side, so I stepped back while turning to see where it came from. The moment I had my feet planted I felt a sharp pain right in my left shoulder right above my breast. My hand moved to the wound to feel out what was stuck in me, and found something similar to a spiny quill. I tried to pull it out, but it seemed to just sink further in.
Knowing this was just a tease, I decided to do something they wouldn’t expect. I turned and took off towards the camp. I tossed rings out behind me to try and slow down whoever was now chasing me, dodging around trees as my eyesight was going black. Whatever poison was on that quill was causing me to go blind, but I still could move all of my body okay.
I just had to make it close enough to the camp to be able to shout and be heard. Only a little more to go if I was still heading in the right direction. Then suddenly I was hit from behind and sent to the ground. How was I supposed to defend myself without sight?
My waves!
With flicks, I sent out waves of energy very lightly on the air, and when it hits something else with enough energy it bounces back towards me. Then I got something! In front of me to the left, I shot out a spear shaped beam hoping I hit whoever. I heard a grunt, but I wasn’t sure if it was a hit yet. Then I got the same back again, except closer. I held my hand out and a whip-like tail came out to slice through my attacker. I swing it around a few times, but again I didn’t hear anything. My waves told me a person was still coming, and my last-ditch effort was put an extreme amount of energy into an orb and cause it to explode in a second’s time. That way the person doesn’t have a chance to get away.
My waves told me they were right in front of me, and the moment I felt my hair being grabbed I created and exploded the orb. I felt the blood splatter on my whole left side, and I was sure now the person was dead. I got to my feet and let out a sigh.
“Rose!”
My head turned, but that didn’t help me any. “I’m right here! I was attacked and they blinded me with something.”
Zohar grabbed my face in his hands. “Open your eyes wide, Rose.”
“Yeah.” I did what he wanted, and when he didn’t say anything for a minute I got anxious. “What is it?”
He tilted my head back so I was facing the sky. “Don’t freak out, I’m putting my blood in your eyes. It should fight off whatever poison is affecting them, it just won’t feel pleasant.”
I nodded before feeling a thick warm liquid coat my eyeballs and run down my face. “It will be disappointing if I end up blind permanently. Must have been a Flesh Eater’s poison. They are the only ones with the ability to make something that affects an Energy User.”
Zohar agreed while wiping the blood off the side of my face. “I don’t think this will be permanent, your eyes look fine. Not cloudy or anything like that. What happened?”
“Ambushed, by one person. Whoever it was could throw their energy around so I couldn’t sense out where they were in the dark. Then they darted me with this, we ran, I lost sight, then I blew them up.” I said gesturing to the blood all over my body.
He smirked. “Good job, Corporal. Even blind you can still take care of yourself.”
I rolled my eyes, well, I think I rolled my eyes. “Of course I can. I’m not a Lady of the court.”
“Only you would be offended to be labeled as such.” Zohar said, placing a hand on my hip and the other caught my face to place a few kisses to my lips.
It was hard to know what he was doing, because I couldn’t see. He moved behind me, but the reasoning I was still unsure of. Then I felt what he was doing. The waistline of my pants got loose, and I felt his hand slip between the fabric and my skin. I went to protest when I felt my whole riding corset fall away from me, allowing Zohar to pull it down to expose my chest.
“Zo…you have to…stop.” My breathy voice betrayed me, I was trying to not sound as hot and turned on as I was.
He chuckled lightly as he pressed a finger slightly inside my soaked center. “You say that, but your dripping for me, Rose. Has your body missed me?”
My face flushed, my stomach tightened, and I felt my legs part a little more for better access when he slipped another finger to tease my c**t. I guess I really have. I didn’t want to be here so close to the camp doing this kind of things. It seems we always have a way of being intimate out in the open. What broke my thoughts up, was when he pushed the two fingers inside me together. It has been a while since I’ve been with anyone, and the sudden intrusion of Zo’s two bulky fingers made me let out a labored moan.
Behind me Zohar let out a short groan. “I missed hearing that erotic voice, moan for me.”
I laid my head back as his one hand groped my breasts roughly while the other hand f****d me. I felt wave after wave of pleasure go through me, making me want more, making me want something else to replace his fingers. It made it even more thrilling knowing I couldn’t see what part of me he was going to touch next, or I would have at least seen this coming.
I felt him grasp the quill only a half a second before he ripped it from my collarbone. The sudden surge of pain caused me to scream out, but his mouth on mine muffled the noise. My blood dripped down my breast to soak my clothes, I could feel the warmth of the fresh blood along with a rushing climax coming. Everything in me wanted him to finish me, and not just with his fingers.
“Zo…I’m going to cum.” I moaned against his lips.
He pulled away and smirked down at me. “Good girl, give me your wrist.”
With a tinge of irritation from the commanding tone in his voice, I gave him my hand and he latched on while completely sending me into ecstasy with his hand. I could literally feel myself soaking my pants as I peeked over my climax and came. It took everything in me to keep as quiet as possible, but from the orgasm and bite it was damn hard.
When I was done my vision started clearing like a mist. It must have been the bite, he drank the poison out of my blood. So, I got to watch him pull his hand out, trail some of my blood from my wound onto the same hand, and then trace his tongue across his fingers. I swallowed hard and did my best to keep from smiling at him.
“All of that to pull the quill out?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.
Zohar shrugged with that smirk still on his face. “I did it for both of us.”
I shook my head before pushing him off so I could fix my clothing. “Un-huh. I’m going to go wash and get new clothes.”
He nodded. “I’m going to walk the perimeter another time before I go back. Be good, Corporal.”
“Goodbye, General.” I said with a huff, but as soon as I was far enough I let myself smile.
