The Kissing Booth A New Chapter

True to form the next day June had us in dress shops.  Since all the girls that were going to be in my wedding were from the Boston area, we were only going to look for my dress.  The girls I had asked via text messages were Georgia, Beth, Monique, Lucy, and Lara Jean with Lara Jean being my maid of honor.  The first shop we hit I ended up coming close to knocking out the girl they assigned to help us because she made a snide comment that if I didn't pick a dress where my ass practically hung out because it was the style my future husband would not remain faithful to me.  That judging by the way I was dressed, I was lucky I had him to begin with and that she was sure she could bang him in no time.  The look on her face when I told her, "if it weren't against the law to knock that smug look off your face, I would."  I spun on my heal and walked out the door.  When that girl yelled at me about suing me for harassment June looked at the sales girl and handed her card to the girl "sorry, she didn't threaten you; she stated a fact."  Once in the car, June was laughing, "well, it is obvious someone has been studying my law books on assault and battery."  I just smiled "well considering who I am marrying. I thought it might be a good idea."  We both started laughing as June pulled out of the parking lot and headed to the next dress shop.   

At the next dress shop, we explained that we were looking for something simple and conservative.  We spent over four hours there before we finally found a line silhouette dress with a satin underskirt and a chiffon overlay with glitter kisses all over it and a veil to match.  June and I were still laughing at the look on the girls face when Lee walked in, and I was wearing this dress with a plunging neckline, backless that hugged my body all the way down to the floor, and he exclaimed "ah my eyes there burning too much skin no I am going blind. Now that I got that out of my system he looked me up, and down Twin, you look hot, and all but my bro will run down the aisle and put his tuxedo jacket on you."  Of course, we ended up explaining our twinness since we could tell that she thought we're some wired red neck family."  She looked at Lee "so; they are serious the groom would want her to be more conservative as well."  "Yep, hell if he had his way the  only skin she would be showing is the skin on her face."  I smacked Lee, "Stop it.  You are supposed to be here to help as my bestie not help your brother."  He wiggled his eyebrows at me "I am doing double duty besides do you think I want to see that much skin on my twin at her wedding nope so not going there it is bad enough that I have to see you in a bikini at the house when we are in the pool."  I stick my tongue at him and pout "June, Lee is being mean to me, and I am already not feeling well since I have to try on dresses."  She laughed, "you two kids behave, and Lee stop annoying Elle, you know I am lucky I got her here, and she is still standing."  That is when Lee took off and found the dress I am currently wearing I am looking at June with tears in her eye's as tears slide fall from mine "Ah Shelly sweetie I know I know baby girl, but she is here in spirit.  Mary would be so proud of you; she would be so happy that you and Noah were getting married; she always knew he was the one for you."  I looked at her and hugged her close before stepping down and having Lee help me out of the dress.  After paying for it and letting the girl know, I wouldn't be back till spring break to see how the alterations were going; we left to find my shoes. 

The shoe store was an adventure since I don't usually wear dresses or heals.  We ended up getting a pair of white peep-toe two-inch heels with a silver flower on top to match the silver kisses all over the dress.  While we were there I found a white tie with silver kisses all over it and looked at June she smiled "oh, damn that would be perfect.  Oh, look Elle they have them in your colors as well let's get them."  So we ended up getting Lee a purple tie with the kisses, and six blue ties for the other boys.  Lee looked at me "seriously Elle" "why not it will commemorate the moment Noah, and I knew we were meant for each other even if there was a hiccup along the way."  I  looked at Lee, "hey, come on what else is wrong."  He looked at me leaned in an whispered: "you know how Rachel disappeared."  "yeah."  "Well turns out she was pregnant with Warren's baby and well let's say it proves she had been cheating on me for months before I found out. She gave the baby up saying she never wanted kids she didn't even give Warren a chance to man up, and now he is fighting for his rights; it is a huge mess."  I looked at him, "look at the reminder from the kissing booth as a big red flag that you dodged a bullet."  "You know your right because then if the baby had been mine, I would have to be fighting someone for my flesh and blood because Rachel was self-centered."  "Exactly!" 

I was so exhausted that we ended up at a Chinese restaurant where the rest of our men showed up.  Noah pulled me in "so, did you find a dress?"  "Yep, and no you are not allowed to see it until I walk down the aisle, but you should ask Lee to show you the dress the girl was trying to talk me into when he walked in the shop."  Lee pulled out his phone and showed it to Noah, and the look on his face was priceless, and I snapped a picture then hit record as he glared at me "no way in hell would I have let you make it halfway down the aisle in that scrap of material they call a dress.  First, you can practically see the sides of you f*****g boobs not to mention how the hell did they expect you to walk in that shit."  I laughed,  "Yeah; Lee said you would have come charging down the aisle and wrapped your tuxedo jacket around me when I walked into the church."  "He has that right."  We all started laughing about how Lee predicted what Noah would do if I wore a dress that was revealing.  While we were all sitting there Lara Jean and Peter showed up, and we invited them to join us, and that is when we met Katherine "Kitty" her little sister Margot her oldest sister and their father, Dr. Covey.  Lara Jean smiled at us as Noah, and I introduced her and Peter around, and she introduced her family.  She then explained her dad had a conference he had to attend to stay up to date with the new technology in the obstetrics and gynecological world.  So he brought the whole family so they didn't miss Christmas together and Peter tagged along since his mother and brother were going out of town and he would have been home alone.  I bounced in my chair, "Great, then that means we can go look at dresses Lara Jean and I can show Peter his tie I got him."  Margot looked at me, "you bought my sister's boyfriend a tie?"  "Oh, yes for the wedding all the groomsman are wearing the same tie well except Lee he will be in purple while Peter and the rest of the guys will be in blue.  Noah, on the other hand, is wearing white."  Lara Jean was laughing, "Margot Noah and Elle are engaged to be married I am her maid of honor."  "Oh, so Peter is the best man?"  Peter looked up, "oh, no that would be Lee since he is Noah's brother and Elle's Best friend. Margot before you ask I know Lee has no designs on LJ since he is dating. Beth."  Lara Jean looks at me, "so, who are the flower girl and ring bearer?"  "Oh, we don't have one of those we are going to have the people at the end of the aisle throw the flowers in the air around us."  "Wow, a shower of red rose petals nicely."  I giggle "well we are using a combination of yellow and red our deep-seated friendship since that came first and of course our love.  In my bouquet and all the girl's bouquets as well plus all the guys, including Noah, will be wearing a white rose in remembrance of  my mom."  June looks at me, "dang Elle that is so lovely, especially including something for Mary."   

The dinner went great, the rents all left to get to know each other better, leaving us kids alone.  I looked around and made a puppy dog face at Noah, and he sighed, "fine let's go to the arcade at the boardwalk."  We all piled into our cars and headed to the boardwalk with the Covery/Kavinsky group following us.  Once we arrived Lee and I grabbed hands and took off running, and I heard Noah yell behind us "YOU TWO DORKS NEVER CHANGE."  I turn around grin and yell back "YEAH, BUT YOU LOVE US ANYWAY, ESPECIALLY ME."  We get to our machine only to find out we need cards to play I frown and get annoyed and was about to walk off and go buy us our cards when Noah walks up "you two dorks looking for these."  I look at him grab a card just as Lee does.  I grin at him, kiss him, "I love you, babe."  "Love you too now do your stupid routine so we can enjoy the night together."  Lee and I start up the machine, select our song, and start to do our dance routine. I hear Margot, "Them acting like little kids don't embrace you."  "Nope, the only time they act like this is when they have there bestie day and come here to play this game.  Besides our mom's used to tell us all the time if you can't act childish once in while no matter where you are, what is the point of living."   

After finishing playing our game, Lara Jean and Peter looked at us, "seriously damn, you two were great."  Chuckling "yeah, we have been doing that routine to that song since they got this machine here."  Noah wraps his arms around me "yep, they have I have been bringing these two down here since I was allowed to take the bus without our rents, and then they started coming on there own or so they thought I was always here watching over my Shelly."  I looked up at him and kissed his nose just as Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cindy Lauper came on over the loudspeaker.  I stiffened and heard Mia yell, "OH, IS THIS BREAKING YOUR HEART ELLEN.  THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR NOT STAYING AWAY FROM FLYNN.  HE IS MINE DAMN IT."  Noah handed me off to Lee turned around "YOU KNOW MIA EVEN IF ELLE REMEMBER THAT ELLE NOT ELLEN WELL EVEN IF SHE DID STAY AWAY FROM ME I WOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT WITH A STUCK UP SKANK LIKE YOU.  FYI YOU THINK PLAYING THIS ONLY HURTS ELLE WELL FYI IT HURTS ALL THREE OF US BECAUSE IT REMINDS ALL THREE OF US ELLE'S MOM."  Mia gasps and stomps off.  I have finally pulled myself together, "sorry guys, it is just with the wedding..."  Noah grabs my face "Shelly baby it still effects me and yes with our wedding coming up and Mary not being here it hurts but remember what the song says and how our mom's love this song."  I look at Lara Jean and smile "See that song was my mom's and their mom's bestie song, and well it still gets to us ever since my mom passed seven years ago."  Lara Jean  

hugged me, "Elle, she is smiling on you two, and I know she is proud of who you are and where your life is headed."  I smile at her "Thank-you."   

The night wound down after that, and as I drifted off to sleep in Noah's arms, I couldn't help but think how as far as my mom was concerned a strangers point of view had relaxed me.  I looked up at the ceiling before drifting off and whispered: "I love you and miss you mom thank you for everything you did while you were here with us and thanks for watching over us."
