Damn, I hate this right in front of me some guy decides with my Shelly to go out to dinner.  Damn it I know what I have done so far is fine, but it is not big enough or excellent. I hate the fact that she is dating any other guy but me.  When I heard her with Richard, I felt my heart squeeze shut.  When she left with him, I wanted the floor to open and swallow me whole.  Then to wake up this morning after holding her me in my arms while she fell asleep scared me, I thought she was pulling away.   Especially since she has that damn dinner date with Timothy, the star center for the stupid basketball team.  Ahh, I can't even use the fact he is not an athlete against him.  I also should not be getting mad about her dating anyone.  This is all my fault right now; I truly hate myself.  At least with Lewis, it was easier to ignore since he was at MIT most of the time and she was here.  Now though she is going out with guys from here and all athletes.  I hope the rest of my stupid team stays away from my girl.  I start to head towards the field house when I hear my name being called and I glance up damn just my luck one of those vapid cheerleaders again.  "Hey Flynn” ” Hey."  Damn her giggles grates on my nerves, "I bet you don't remember my name."  "Nope, sorry."  Why would I, all you care about is dating a football player?  "Amber, so how about we enter the costume contest together."  "Sorry, I am already entering it with someone."  "Yo, dude."  I turn to my left and see Johnson, my wide receiver, "Hey, what's up?"  "Did I hear you say you're entering the couples contest."  "Yep."  "What couple in literature are you dressing up as for the contest."  "Oh, I doubt you know them."  I notice an older gentleman walk up to him, and he smiles, "I might not, but my dad's buddy here might he loves literature."  "Oh, Ok well Anne Shirley Blythe and Gilbert Blythe."  Johnson looks at the older guy” ” Do  you know the characters?"  "Yes, I do I am just curious how you know the characters considering that is usually a book young girl read how do you know those characters."  "Oh, the girl I have been in love with most of my life and is currently my Ex Rochelle "Elle" Evans is madly in love with the series.  I am trying to win her back from a stupid mistake I made."   

He smiles, "Really, I think I can help with that.  But, first, what did you do?"  At the end of last semester, a girl approached me that had been trying to get me to go out with her by hitting on me every chance she got by rubbing up on me.  She had pictures that someone took, and in the images, you couldn't tell who was assaulting who and she claimed if I didn't break up with my girl, she would insist I was taking advantage of her and press charges.  So that is what I did, even after being intimate one last time with My sweet innocent Shelly.  It destroyed her and our family.  See our moms were best friends...now all I want is her back."  "So, you want a grand gesture for being a horse’s ass to what sounds like a wonderful girl your family loves."  "Yes, the bigger, the better."  "Do, you have a date planned?" "yeah on Halloween."  "Ok good gives us time to plan.  Is she waiting for you?"  "No, she has a date tonight with some..."  "don't start calling random guys names just because they are taking her out.  If it gets back to her, it can make her doubt you.  Remember you want her to know you want her happy no matter what even if it is not with you."  "Ok, I guess you are right.  Even though I hate the idea of another guy touching her, I will try to control my emotions."   

"So that you know I am not a judge, but I will be working the contest to verify costumes let me see what you have."  I show him the pictures of the costumes, and he smiles up at me.  "Good now you need to order star flowers for her hair that night."  "The thing is I am thinking of changing her dress."  "DON'T the dress Anne is wearing when Gilbert proposes to her is green like this one.  Green is Gilbert's, favorite color on Anne.  When he picks her up to go on their walk, she has star flowers in her hair.  Anne picks the dress because it is Gilbert's favorite."  I look at the guy, "How do you know all this?"  "I am the first cousin twice removed from Lucy Maude Montgomery."  I couldn't help but do a fist pump yelling, "Yes!"  He chuckled, "I take it you get where I am going with this."  "I so hope it entails me introducing you to my sweet Shelly."  "Yes, it does, but you said her name was Rochelle "Elle" Evans, yet you call her Shelly."  "Oh, well Rochelle is her first name, and everyone calls her Elle except our family we call her Shelly."  "Ah, ok nice to know.  So, what exactly do you have planned.”?  "Well I am taking her out to a steak dinner at 5 pm after dinner I will drop her off at her dorm so she can change then I will pick her up, bringing her here for the contest that takes place at 8 pm then on to L.A. Burdick Handmade Chocolates at 9 pm."  "Perfect I will meet you there take your time I know the owner I will call them and call in a favor."  "L.A. Burdick  will be on me on one condition."  "What is that?"  "You have to tell me everything about what makes you love this girl."

Man, this guy is driving me crazy first he comments that he didn't expect a girl that dated Flynn to cover up so much flesh.  Now, all he wants to talk about is basketball and complaining that Women's sports take up too much money from men's sports.  Ahh, I really should tell him how I am attending this prestigious school.  "I mean it, Elle, why do we even need women's sports.  I mean all women care about is makeup and breaking a nail."  That is it.  I stand up suddenly throwing my napkin on the table.  "Obviously when you asked me out you didn't know more than the fact I knew Noah, Lewis, and Richard."  "So, obviously, you are hot with those three guys chasing you."  I glare at him "Don't you realize that I am the Captain of the Women's Soccer Team?"  "So, like I said all girls care about is flirting with guys I bet my Basketball team can beat your team in soccer."  I lean in "Ok, I take that as a challenge my girls against your team of B-ball boys that is what you call yourselves in a game of soccer."  "Your are on."  I pull out my team chat, "Who is up to show the Men's Basketball team who is boss?."  "I instantly have my whole squad respond.  I look up at Tony (I still can't believe he plays basketball like Timothy) he is the dork I bumped into this morning at the library and asked me to lunch, and now I am annoyed and still have my date with Timothy later.  "Half hour on the soccer field."  "You're on."  I text the girls "thirty minutes soccer field." 

After running to my dorm to change into a workout outfit, I run to the field and see Lee, Noah sitting in the stands with a bunch of people showing up.  "What is up you two?"  "Tony put it up on social media about the men's basketball team taking down the Women's soccer team.  So that you know Shelly my money is on you."  I hear, "I take that bet Flynn fifty bucks says the Men's Basketball Team beats the Women's Soccer team."  I look up and see that it is Timothy.  "Are you serious?"  "Yep, women should never play sports."  I look right at him ok here is our side bet "Men's Basketball team wins I will admit men are better than women on social media an keep our date.  If we win you admit Women are better than men at everything and our date is off."  "Done."   

I hear the bets flying as I make it to the center field.  I look at Tony and Timothy, "We are playing this like a real game.  No alternate rules and no cheating.  I worked it out to get two officials to officiate, and John is recording this since you posted in on social media and the athletic director is behind this little challenge."  "Let's get this going."  I turn to my team and yell, "I expect for every one of you to play as if your position depends on it because it does.  If you can't handle playing against the men get off my field and don't come back, we don't need someone with no sportsmanship on this team.  That means if you are on scholarship, you lose it.  I was just messaged by the athletic director we are going to use this as a promotional video, so play hard and win." 

We set up, and as the ball hits the ground, this tall guy gets the ball and passes it to Tony who comes at me and grins "your going down Elle my sweet."  Before he knew what happened, I stole the ball and took off passing it to Rodriguez who kicked it in, and we scored the first goal of the game.  I see all his team yelling at him.  I chuckle, and again we set up for the next play.  This time Tony gets a chance at a goal only to have my goalie catch the ball and toss it in straight at me. Letting me set up for the next goal.  As the game kept going, the B-ball team was getting very angry because they are down by two at the half.  While we are sitting down, Noah waltz's up "So, Shelly, how about me and you go out tonight for dinner."  "What?  Noah, you know I technically have a date already."  "Nope, you don't you bet him if you win he loses his date and has to post that Women are better than men at everything. So, I know you got this.  My girl knows her game and is the best damn aggressor I have ever seen."  "Thanks, Noah I am so glad that you have this much faith in me."  "I always have."  He gets up and walks away just as they call the end of the half. 

The score kept going back and forth until Tony looked at me, "You are going down Elle, and I expect a kiss at the end of the night since we are still on our date."  I grinned at him and yelled, "LADIES ENOUGH. BRING IT NOW!"  The look on the guys faces when as soon as the ball was dropped it was gone and we scored.  I loved it when Tony came up to me and tried to steal the ball only to have me flip and kick right into the goal.  I could hear the football team who had pretty much bet on us laughing there heads off since at the beginning of the game we were never more than two points ahead of them or vice versa, but by now we have pulled ahead by six points, and we were nearing the end of the final quarter.  Timothy yells "GUYS THEY ARE JUST CHICKS COME ON."  I grin "REMEMBER DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO, AND SCORE BUT DON'T YOU  DARE GET A PENALTY, OR THAT IS TEN AFTER WE ARE DONE HERE."  We won, and poor Tony had to admit defeat and received no kiss.  Timothy tried to keep our date, but he lost, and I refused to go out with him, but I did agree to go out with Noah and Lee to celebrate.
