I expected another long drive from the cabin to the castle, but instead, a portal opened and took me straight to the steps of a massive building. Aelfred was taking a shortcut.
It was a castle that shimmered with the silver and golden filigree details that adorned the impressive marble columns.
"Welcome Home, my queen." She leaned forward to whisper in my ear, making me shiver. The Elf castle was an open building on a steep mountain overlooking a waterfall surrounded by greenery and open spaces.
The white marble, golden, and silver details all contrasted with the colors of nature that surrounded it. Al offered his arm to me, and we slowly walked to the entrance. The glass triple-height door opened, revealing a rather large and cozy foyer.
