Sarula "It's a good thing you are on this side of the team," he said, an innocent joke that made my blood freeze. My mind reeled, and I tried to compose myself quickly. "Of course..." I smiled. This has been so hard. I have lived my entire life under my father's rule, seeking his approval and searching for his love. He always gave me crumbs, bits, and pieces that had me floating in the clouds. He knew how to play me. I was like a little dove: I will immediately go for the crumbs once you pull out the bread. I have tried to distance myself from him, but reality has hit me hard. I got the job because he wrote a reference letter which I owe to him. I have proven myself capable. Smart enough to handle the pressure of helping the queen and king rule the kingdom and maintain its balance.
