WHILE WE WAIT

1417 Words
Nathaly's POV Since I have memory, I have waited for my prince charming, that one boy that would rock my world, whose touch would lend me strength as well as love. After all, I had grown up watching my parents, well adoptive parents, be the most loving and cute couple I had ever seen, and they were just amazing with me and with my brother Aroon. Even though I was part of the Everain family because they adopted me after their former Gamma and his mate died in an attack by the Argent Moon Pack almost 16 years ago. I am now a proud member of the Silver Crimson Pack. Alpha Peter and Luna Asil recognized me as their daughter and Aroon treats me like her little sister, since I became part of the family when he was six years old, and I was a newborn baby girl. Now about my mate, after living a life full of love and care, that's all I want from the wolf that turns out to be my mate. I just turned sixteen a couple of days ago, and if I were a shewolf I would have had the awakening of my precious wolf, but since I was born a human I don't have her, I am left alone with the pros and cons of being a human. Well first let's go with the pros, I don't have to worry about hurting someone physically when I have a mood swing. I've seen it happen. It's not a nice thing to watch if you ask me. You tend to devote yourself more to training in order to avoid being a burden for your pack, you are taken care of every single member of the pack, and they are always looking after you to make sure you are fine and that not even the slightest thing can hurt you. That's about it with what I've been thinking about, still they are pretty positive ways of approaching the fact that you are a human in the middle of shapeshifting badass people. The main cons I thought about are being aware that, regardless of how much you train and how strong you are, your position leaves you far more vulnerable than your opponent, and even if you don't really want to, you are kind of a burden to the pack, that has to worry about you and even though they love you, and you know it. Sometimes it can get to be far too much. I really hope somehow I turn out to be some late bloomer, so I can start training with the rest of the pack, and stop being left behind when they go on a recon mission and won't take me because my frailty could endanger the whole operation. At least today dad assigned me a job which I am very good at. Organizing a big event, they are inviting packs from all over the world to celebrate the winter solstice, and the naming of our new alpha. Yes, Aroon has been taking over the pack since about six months ago he found his mate and prepared her to be a perfect Luna, Jainny is great, and I knew she would do just fine, and the best thing I could do was reassure her by throwing the biggest Naming Ceremony this pack has ever seen. Part of my job was to approve the new Luna's dress and make sure the decoration matched her colors perfectly and the pack's. "I am not kidding, I have no idea what to wear, and the ceremony is the day after tomorrow. What am I supposed to do?" was all Jainny was able to say over two hours of trying on dresses. We had chosen four dresses out of the 40 options that were delivered and tailor-made specially for this occasion. "OK girl, don't freak out, you are working amazingly..." While I tried to make her feel a bit better, taking her hands in mine, she interrupted me and, with little tears in her eyes, she said "how am I supposed to lead this pack when I can barely choose one dress?" after that I jump to hug her. "Don't say anything else, you are perfect, you were born to be our Luna and nothing can change that. Aroon loves you not only for your beauty, but as well for your heart, and the fact that you think you aren't worthy of this responsibility shows me just how much you are meant to take it, so stop torturing yourself over unimportant things. Today you go out of this room with a chosen dress, even if it is the last thing I do". After my speech she seemed more confident. She didn't say anything about it later, but I knew she was grateful for what I had said and that right there she had obtained enough strength and energy to go through the ceremony with flying colors. When we finished, Jainny had chosen a charming strapless white dress that was inspired by the flow of a river. It was all pearl white with little jewels scattered all over the floor-length loose skirt, and the waistline and the bodice were a bit tight in order to mark her skinny but still well-built silouette. It was definitely the perfect dress for her. I couldn't help but cry with my mom and her mother when we saw her wearing it. From there, I sent to be made beautiful flower arrangements with white and baby blue lilacs with baby's breath, and it couldn't miss one red rose, because the main color of our pack is red and navy blue, which is represented softly by the baby blue lilacs. One thing less to worry about. And what I still have to do is finish checking the confirmations for the ceremony. All guests have agreed to attend even the Argent Moon Pack. We have been in conflict with them ever since our territories started to collide, but we expected that through negotiations we might be able to achieve a satisfactory agreement that would benefit both sides. After all, enough blood has been shed. The day after the ceremony, the negotiations will start and will go on for as long as necessary, so I have made a draft of the way we will proceed to treat all our guests. I was told that all of the representatives were Alphas from each invited pack along with around five companions each. All will be staying in the pack house, the Alphas on the upper floor and their companions will be staying in the guest rooms that have been prepared around the first and second floors. By now, every single room has been marked for the omegas to know where they have to locate each guest, and in case of any problem or emergency, the guests will be given my direct contact and my brother's, just in case I can't pick up the phone or is something of extreme urgency. The pack members that are helping me with the organization have been making lots of fun of me. They said I am running from one place to another, always alert to any problem and ready to solve any doubt on the march. I guess that I have stressed myself out more than usual because I want this day to be perfect and ideal both for my brother and Jainny. It's the least I can do for them. I was so focused on the sitting arrangement and the last-minute details that I didn't notice that it was already five hours past midnight, and I wasn't even so tired. Still my eyes were all itchy and surrounded by black circles and huge eyebags. My appearance was terrible. If I were to find my mate anytime soon, I really hoped he wouldn't have to see me in such a bad shape. Even the little mascara I had put on had melted and helped strengthen the darkness that had formed beneath my eyes. The only reason I stopped checking the final arrangements was due to a knock on my door, and I wondered who in the world would knock at five in the morning, when everybody knows I wake up at seven. Intrigued, I answered "Yes? Please come in" and a young omega shyly introduced her face before coming in and informing me of the current unexpected situation. "Miss Nathaly, the representatives from Argent Moon have arrived already. What should we do?"
