Chapter 8

“Shysie, I am really glad we can be friends,” Ann got up and waited for Shysie to get up as well. Together, they made their way to class. When they entered class, Ann gave Paris an annoying look and took her usual seat. She did not know why, but she felt the need to peek at Wynn. She sneaked a peek over her shoulder and thought to herself that next time she must defiantly try to sit nearer to him. Paris noticed the peak and thought that maybe that is why Ann didn’t like him. After all, Wynn also drank from her without permission, but she does not seem upset with him. Paris was a bit disappointed by the idea that Ann might like Wynn and not him, but decided to give it another shot tomorrow. For now, he will let her be. After school, Ann wanted to do her homework first, but she just could not focus. She could not stop thinking about Wynn. She found herself daydreaming and before she knew it; it was dinnertime. “Ann, dinner is ready,” Ann’s mom called from downstairs. Ann joined her mom for dinner and, as expected, her mom brought Paris up. “Mom, I really don’t like that guy,” Ann said, irritated. “Why he seems so nice, and he is handsome too,” her mom said, confused. “I like someone else,” Ann cut her mom off. “Oh, so there is someone special?” her mom asked, waiting to hear more. “Yes, he is friends with Paris. His name is Wynn. He is so good-looking. He has blond hair, blue eyes, these sexy thin lips, he is just to die for…” Ann babbled on and on about how much she liked Wynn. Ann’s mom found it a bit strange for her daughter to be so love struck by a boy. “Well, when will I be meeting this Wynn?” “Soon. I am not sure how to start talking to him. He makes me feel shy and I am not sure he likes me, but then again it is only been two days,” Ann said smiling. After dinner, Ann happily cleaned up, singing to herself feeling like she was on cloud nine. Later she started writing Wynn love notes and kept on looking around her room, making sure Paris did not sneak in again. Around midnight, she finally fell asleep at her study table on top of a dozen love letters to Wynn. Ann woke up with her mom calling her from downstairs, “Ann, I don’t want to be late!” Ann sat up and took a love letter off her face. She rubbed her eyes and gave a yawn, “coming!” She squeezed some toothpaste into her mouth and grabbed her hairbrush, and shoved it along with her books into her backpack. “Morning, mom,” Ann greeted her mom, making her way to their front door. “Did you sleep in your school uniform?” her mom asked, shaking her head. Once inside the car, Ann searched for her hairbrush and started to brush and plaited it to the side. She searched around for her lip gloss. “Making yourself pretty for Wynn?” her mom asked, teasing her. “I wish I woke up earlier, wanted to put some effort in my appearance, have to get him to notice me.” “Darling, you are beautiful no matter what your appearance,” her mom said, turning into the school parking lot. She looked around. “Which one is he?” Ann looked around. “I don’t see him. Must have gone inside already. Bye, mom, enjoy your day,” Ann got out without kissing her mom goodbye. She did not want to mess up her lips. Ann was eager to get inside. She could not wait to see Wynn. The bell did not ring for the first period yet, but Ann decided to make her way straight to class. She forgot her coat at home so had no need to go to her locker, where Paris and Jessica were waiting. Ann wanted to get a seat near Wynn, but when she got to class, she was already too late. Most of the students are already seated. The classrooms were a bit warmer than the hallways and most of the students hang out in the classrooms in the morning. Ann took her normal seat. “Morning class,” Dario greeted as he entered the class. Ann noticed he looked stressed, but her thoughts were interrupted by tapping from behind. “What?!” she asked, looking around at Paris. He gave her a folded piece of paper. Ann took it with great annoyance and read it to herself. CAN WE TALK AT LUNCHTIME? Ann took out her pencil bag and searched for her black pen. At first, she wanted to say ‘no,' but then she decided she needed to make it clear to Paris that she was not interested in him. She wrote a big SURE and passed it back. Paris was relieved and smiled at himself. “Waited at your locker this morning,” Jessica whispered to Ann, “with Paris.” “Sorry, I was cold, wanted to get to class,” Ann said, taking a quick glance over her shoulder at Wynn that does not seem to notice her. Paris noticed again that Ann looked in Wynn’s direction. Shysie caught Paris looking in their direction and gave him a wink. Paris gave her a wink back even though he wished he didn’t have to continue this crazy relationship with Shysie. It was the definition of a love-hate relationship. Sometimes Paris hated her, sometimes he loved her. The break came and Paris could not wait to clear the air with Ann. He wished he didn’t like her as much as he did, but in these few days of knowing her; he was intrigued by her. Before Paris could get to Ann, Shysie locked her arm into his and forced walked him to the cafeteria. They sat at Ann’s and Jessica’s normal table. Ann arrived at the cafeteria without Jessica and noticed the Vampires were sitting at her normal table. She felt a bit annoyed but at the same time happy that Shysie was sitting at her table. Ann felt very confused about her feelings for Shysie. Why does she have this strong urge to be friends with such a lollypop girl?
