Chapter Ten~Secrets

     Jaxson POV 

     After we made a plan to speak in person I hung up with Elder Xander. He is coming to my office in an hour so I better try and get some work done. I mind link Mason and Nolan into my office immediately. In less than a minute they are both busting into my office fighting about something stupid. 

     “No man, you are all wrong!” Nolan yelled.

     “Trust me bro women love it!” Mason replied. They both stopped and looked at me as I stared at them annoyed already.

     “Are you two idiots done?” I huff.

     “Jax what’s up? I swear your mood changes more than the direction of the wind.” Nolan laughed but he was still concerned. He is a caring, abnormally sweet and genuine guy who all the girls always fell in love with. But shows even more now since he found Nicole. 

     I try and focus on the one thing I needed to speak with the guys about. “I need to run something by you two.” My alpha voice is starting to come out as I attempt to control my anger all over again. 

     Immediately they both sit in their respective chairs in front of my desk as I cross my arms over my chest to keep me from breaking everything in sight. 

     “I’ve been informed about some information about Alpha Carter that has to do with my mate.” The fire in me grows but I continue. “Whatever is said in this room never leaves. Understand?” I can’t help but feel Avery scratching at my skin wanting to be set free to find that bastard.

     They both stare at me and speak in unison. “Yes Alpha!” I can tell they are both intrigued and upset. Amelia is their soon-to-be Luna and they have sworn to protect her at all costs. 

     “Good, now here is what I know...” I dish the information that I’ve collected from all the stories Amelia has told me. Just repeating it all made me angry all over again.

     “ARE YOU f*****g SERIOUS BOSS?!?” Mason growled in anger. They both are visibly pissed from the information. 

     But Nolan sat quietly in his chair repeating, “Three pups? He killed three of his own pups?” He was astonished.

     My voice was deeper at this point and I couldn’t stop the throbbing of my muscles as they try to stop myself from shifting. “Yes, I’m serious. She is a survivor, warrior and saint. I don’t know how she still has her faith and strength still attached.” 

     “I’m going to kill that mother-fucker!” Mason shouted as he threw back his seat causing it to fall over and started to storm towards the door. 

     “MASON SIT!” My alpha tone was evident. He had no other option but to listen. As he came back to his chair he picked it back up and sat down with exaggeration. “Don’t you think I wanted to do the same as you when I found out? Trust me, no one else wants to show that fucker the consequences of his actions more than I do!” 

     “Then what’s your plan Jax?” Nolan asked. 

      “We need to send out a recon team to see if we can get any other dirt and proof so that we can turn Carter into the Elder Council.” 

      “Well that can take months!” Mason was my lead trainer and defense specialist. He knew it all from intel, security, and recon to self defense, marksmanship, and war strategies. 

     “And that’s why I have the best of the best. Get me your finest team ready for a recon mission.” Mason nods at my command. I can tell he’s not happy about it but him and I both know that this is the best option. 

     “Now onto my second part of business.” As I said this I felt a presence at the door. I knew it was Elder Xavier immediately by his smell. Walking over to the door I open it to let him in. Then proceeded to close and lock the door behind us. “I need to speak to you three about something I’ve never witnessed before.”

     They all looked at me puzzled trying to figure out what this could be about. “During the last few times I’ve been with Amelia I’ve noticed something. She has this aura that isn’t just her Luna coming out. Her eyes give off a golden glow that I can’t explain, she visibly becomes more confident.”

     “Has she shown any powers of some sorts that you’ve noticed?” Elder Zavier questioned.

     “No, not that I know of at least.” The fact that the Elder didn’t know anything about this made me more concerned. 

     “Have you talked to her about this?” Nolan asked as he looked at me questioningly. 

     I sat there chewing on my lip in thought, “Yes but I only mentioned her eyes glowing gold. She said she had no idea what I was talking about but she instantly got frustrated and brushed me off.” 

     Mason spoke up. “Do you think she’s lying to you Jaxson?” 

     “No, of course not. I can sense her emotions, she was just as shocked as me and even confused.” I knew that Amelia wouldn’t lie to me like that. She believes in our bond. “Nolan your special assignment is to work with Elder Zavier and see if you two can find anything about this. Check the royal library and history books.”

     I turn my attention to Elder Zavier, “Sir would you be able to possibly talk to some of the other Elders. Not give any information about Amelia but just mention the things that are happening?”

     “Yes alpha.” He replied.

     “Ok sounds like a plan. Give me constant updates Mason on our plan earlier and I want to know immediately if you guys find anything about Amelia. You are all excused.” All three of them bow their heads and exit my office with their assignments.

     I just hope that we will be able to get some information before everything goes down hill. 

     Now on to figuring out this whole Luna Ceremony for my beautiful mate.

Amelia POV 

     I left Jaxsons office instead of heading to our room to shower, I found myself walking outside towards the forest. I needed to get this whole thing under control and it was getting harder to get information from Willow. I didn’t know about my eyes glowing gold, which shocked me the most. 

       At the edge of the forest I start to strip down and make my way into the confinement of the trees. I slowly allow my wolf to take over and start to run at a vigorous pace. The bushes and trees fly past me in a blur while I focused on one thing and one thing only, being free. I made it past the pack territory but that moment of peace didn’t last very long.  

     Sensing something following me I stopped in my tracks and turned around in fighting stance. I have never been trained to defend myself but that wasn’t going to stop me. As the tall menacing figure stepped out from behind a large tree concealing him I smelt who it was before I saw his face. 

     My wolf automatically growled in protest to his presence as I stood in shock staring at Alpha Carter. “Hello my pet.” His voice was peppy and threatening as always. From my old pack he was the fakest of them all. I managed to not move, react or speak. He didn’t deserve anything from me. He tossed a large blanket towards me as I stared at him in question. “Go change.” He demanded. 

     I picked up the blanket with my teeth and carried it behind a large tree to transition into my human form. After the popping and bone breaking finished I covered myself and walked out to face the devil himself. 

    “Wow you look amazing Amelia, even more than you did before.” His nasty eyes filled with lust as he drooled over my appearance. It made me sick. 

     “What do you want?” My voice was stern and cold. The power behind my words was stronger than I’ve ever experienced and I could tell it shocked him as well. 

     “Can’t you tell I missed you?” He replied as he took a step towards me. I didn’t allow it though as my first reaction was to take a step back to keep my distance. He huffed heavily at my reaction but didn’t test it further. “I came here Amelia because I want you back.” He finally admitted.

     “I will not come back alpha.” 

     “Oh dear pet, I wasn’t asking for your opinion.” His maniacal chuckle echoed in my ears. “I came here to tell you that I’ll be getting you one way or another. No matter what you and your stupid mutt do I will get what I want.” 

     I freeze in fear and anger at his threat. What does he mean? What does he want with me?  He suddenly was directly in front of me brushing his nasty hand down my cheek sending a wave of nausea in its wake. “Just a little warning, so you better be ready.” He whispered before he shifted mid run into his wolf and took off. 

     Falling to my knees I cradled myself to keep from breaking down completely. How can a man that has no power over me anymore, make a threat like that and turn me into broken pieces again? The fear of the alphas potential to hurt my new pack, to hurt me and even worse to hurt Jaxson felt like too much to bear.

     I need a plan to protect the new people that I have grown to love and have became family. They don’t deserve to be punished for my past...

     As I walk back slowly through the Forrest I find myself tripping and stumbling. I was so distracted that I barley noticed a large brown wolf in front of me. He obviously was one of the patrol guys from our pack because he didn’t seem threatened. With cautious steps he made his way to me, his eyes where stuck on the blanket still wrapped around my exposed body. 

     For some reason I couldn’t speak, I was still frozen from the threat. I didn’t even know if I wanted to explain myself. Should I tell anyone or should I keep this a secret until I figure out a plan? 

    While all my thoughts ran through my mind I realized that the wolf had already stepped behind a large bush to change. Surprisingly it was Jaxsons brother Keith. He managed to grab a pair of shorts he must have stored somewhere and started to walk towards me with causation. 

     “Amelia, are you ok?” He’s reaching out his hand to me like I’m a scared kid. 

     Quickly I make my decision on how I was going to deal with this. “Yes sorry Keith, I’m not used to any of your guys wolfs. I got worried I guess.” I shook him off laughing. He didn’t seem to believe me but he also didn’t question me. 

     “Why are you wrapped in a blanket then?” He was suspicious and confused. And all I could think was s**t how am I gonna lie about this! 

     “I’m not used to the grounds yet and when I got lost I shifted and this was the only thing I could find.” Damn I don’t even think that’s believable but there isn’t any going back now. Keith stood there thinking and finally nodded his head at me. “Well let me at least walk you back to the pack house. Wouldn’t want you getting lost again.” He lightly chuckled as he waved me over to follow him. 

     I released the breath that I was holding while I waited for him to catch onto my lie.  “Keith I’m fine, you don’t have to.” 

     “Oh trust me, Jax would never forgive me if I left you alone to get yourself home.” He shrugged at me. I softly smiled at him even though he was facing away from me. “So are you liking the pack so far? Is big bro treating you right?” 

     Taking a second to think to myself I finally replied, “Yes everyone has been so sweet and Jax...” My heart sped up just by saying his name. I felt the blush spread from my cheeks and down while my lips shifted into a s**t eating grin. “He enchanting.” I giggled. 

     Keith turned around with the most confused look on his face. Staring at me like I grew three heads, “Jaxson? Enchanting?” He huffed as he turned back around. 

     “What do you mean?” 

     “Never mind Amelia. It’s none of my business.” My heart was racing again but now in the bad way. What was Keith not telling me?

     “Please tell me?” Begging for some answers.

     “Well...” Keith rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly “Jaxson wasn’t really planning on ever meeting his mate.” Now my heart definitely stopped this time. “He was actually more worried about the pack not having a Luna. Sadly he was so focused on the pack that he never took care of himself. So instead of going out to find his mate he started searching for an alphas daughter to marry. Just so she can take over the Luna duties for him.” Everything hurt at that moment. I felt used and completely stupid for letting Jaxson in and start to convince me that he had been waiting for me. These f*****g alphas all think they can just use me for their benefit. 

     I didn’t realize that I completely stopped walking and was just standing there in thought until Keith cleared his throat. “Luna, please don’t read into this. He just wants what’s best for everyone. And he ended up finding you before he even made a mistake!” Keith was obviously trying to reassure me but it was no use. 

     “Thank you Keith for telling me.” I glanced at him with the best smile I could muster at a moment like this. We were already on the territory and almost to the front door. When I made it to the handle the door swung open dramatically when I saw Jaxson standing right there in the door way looking at me in worry. 

     “What the hell? Where have you been baby? Are you ok?” Jaxson started to reach for me but I pulled away. I was still angry at the thought of Jaxson even attempting to find someone else to spend the rest of his life with. He looked hurt but I kept my chin up and pushed past him heading straight for our bedroom. 

     I heard the yelling from Jax behind me as he questioned Keith but before Keith could answer Jaxson was trying to catch up with me. I wasn’t having it though. I heard him trying to ask me questions and get me to answer but the anger in me built up so much that I wasn’t able to even face him. When I made it to the door I slammed it shut and locked it before Jax even had the chance to think. 

     The banging became louder as I sat against the door while silent sobs washed over me like waves. After a minute the banging stoped but I could still hear him on the other side of the door trying to get me to reply. Too many thoughts filled my head while I blocked out everything else. I stood up from my spot on the floor and walked to the bathroom to take a burning hot shower. Hoping and praying to the moon goddess that all this pain and worry would just was down the drain too. 

Jaxson POV

     When I finally heard the shower turn on I knew I had no chance of getting Amelia to speak to me. I decided to go to the next best thing I could think of as I made my way down the flights of stairs. Looking around I saw my i***t brother Keith sitting calmly on the sofa in front of the TV. I went straight up to him and punched him straight in the nose. 

     “What the f**k bro?” He yelled as he cupped his face with his hands.

     My anger was taking over again as I kept myself from throwing him into the wall. “WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HER? WHY WAS SHE COMPLETELY EXPOSED? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?” I barked at him between clenched teeth. 

     “Why don’t you go ask her you big i***t?” He barked back. Still holding his nose to try and stop the bleeding.

     “I tried!” I threw my hands in the air exasperated before I pulled them down my face in frustration. “She completely locked me out Keith.” Plopping down next to him, I sat there with my face still in my hands.

     Keith started to awkwardly hmm and I knew right then and there that he didn’t keep his mouth shut. “So I might have mentioned something that upset her...” I attempted to take calming breaths but it honestly wasn’t working at all. “I didn’t know that she didn’t know about savannah...” 

     My eyes shot up to him in realization as I thought of what that meant to Amelia. “YOU DID WHAT?!?” Now there was no chance I was going to be able to control my anger. I picked Keith up by the neck and pinned him to the wall faster than he could ever imagine.
