Chapter 33- Serena

Serena had a small setback on Wednesday, so they decided to keep her hospitalized until Friday. Her white blood cell count began to climb and she developed a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit. They had removed her cast to check the skin condition, but there were no outward signs of infection. They did remove the external stitches before replacing the cast since she seemed to be healing well in spite of the systemic infection. They changed her antibiotic, but until the infection was back under control, they wanted to keep her on IV antibiotics. Once her symptoms were improving again, they could switch her to oral antibiotics and consider discharge. Physical Therapy was going well and was essentially to teach Serena how to move and transfer safely without putting weight on the broken leg. The
