The immense underground facility beneath the White House was a technological marvel, with construction completed in the late 1950s.
Built to protect the President and Congress members in case of a nuclear attack, it was also a control base for the U.S. President to launch any counter strikes.
Throughout the years, it had been modernised and upgraded as improved technology came along. The facility, extended in the 1980s, now housed ultra-hi-tech control rooms monitoring US military operations around the world.
