“Hi…” I said, awkwardly as I fidget, a thin line forming in my lips.
“Okay, so Al, this is Mel. Mel, this is Al, short for Alfonso,” Elias said, clapping his hand together as he tries to lighten up the mood.
“Nice to meet you, Al,” I said, extending my hand to him.
“Nice to meet you, Ms. Melani,”
“Melani is fine.”
“Then Melani it is,” Al replied. “I’m sure our captain has a lot to explain about you.”
“I could make it short if you want,” I joked, suggesting.
Al scoffed, amused at the tone of my voice. “We’ll get to that later. For now, the crew is looking for you,” Alfonso said, referring to Elias.
