Chapter 7: You're a Witch

(Owen’s P.O.V.) “What are you doing here?!” Aubrey hissed. I stopped trying to look past her for my mate and c****d my head at her. “I’m sorry do I know you?” Aubrey made her red hair fly around her head as she shook it. “No but I know who you are. And what you are.” She said the ending with disgust in her voice. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just here to enjoy the mall.” I tried to sound like she was crazy. Afterall, revealing the supernatural to humans was forbidden by the council. “Now if you’ll excuse me.” I tried to walk past her when suddenly an invisible force pushed me backwards and slam against the wall. I grunted as the impact almost knocked the wind out of me. I looked at Aubrey who was staring daggers at me and had her left hand up. I scoffed as I realized what happened. “You’re a witch.” “And you’re a werewolf.” I tried to get off the wall, but I was slammed back into it again. “Let. Me. Go.” I said using my alpha voice. The witch just laughed and kept me against the wall. “Oh, we have an alpha here. Well, sorry, but your power doesn’t work on me like it does your band of mutts.” I growled at her. She walked so that she was in front of me rather than next to me. “You’re gonna listen and you’re gonna listen good. You’re gonna stay away from us. You’re not gonna follow us. You’re not gonna come looking for us.” She pushed me harder against the wall with her magic. “Understand?” I growled again at the sudden increased pressure of magic. “Yes.” “Good. Then I’m going to leave, and you can count to ten. I never want to see you around me or my best friend again.” She released her magic and started to walk away. I took a deep breath and grabbed her arm before she could get too far. “Aubrey. She’s my mate.” Aubrey stopped her in tracks and slowly turned to face me. “Shit.” * * * * (Aubrey’s P.O.V.) This alpha werewolf telling me that Clara was his mate was the last thing I wanted to hear. I had spent my whole life protecting her and not letting her know about the supernatural. Sure, I did a few parlor tricks here and there, but I knew that she would never believe that I was actually a witch. But this. This could ruin everything. I looked up at the boy and ripped my arm out of his grasp. “No. No you’re not.” He looked confused. “Yes I am. I smelled her as soon as I entered this mall.” “I don’t care what you say. You’re just some random guy that we met at the mall today.” “You don’t understand. You can’t stop this. It’s fate. We’re meant to be together.” “No, you don’t understand! She doesn’t know anything about the supernatural world, and it has to stay that way!” I scream whisper at him. The boy ran his hand through his hair looking frustrated. “Look I get it. She’s human and you want her to stay innocent from the dangers of our world but that just can’t happen. She belongs with me and I can’t live without her. I won’t live without her.” I internally sighed with relief. He thinks she’s human. Good. Then that means my spell to hide her wolf side is still working. I closed my eyes and let out a deep breath. “What’s your name?” He seemed to think too hard about that question. “It’s Oliver. Oliver Duncan.” He finally said sounding uneasy. I raised my eyebrow. “Yeah. How about you try again cause that’s not right.” ‘Oliver’ looked down and set his jaw. I rolled my eyes. “Or I can just read your mind and get it out of you.” When he didn’t move, I took a step closer and held my hand out. He backed away and held his hands up defensively. “I’ll make you a deal. I’ll tell you my real name if you tell me hers.” ‘Oliver' nodded his chin towards the direction Clara was last. “I can’t do that. It’s for her safety.” “And being Oliver is for mine.” I closed my eyes realizing we were never going to get anywhere. “Fine. Oliver it is then. You got a phone?” Oliver pulled a phone out of his pocket and held it up. “Yeah why?” I grabbed the phone out of his hand and quickly punched my number in while I sent myself a text so that I would have his number too. My phone buzzed in my pocket. “Here’s my number. I have to go back to… my friend… but we need to finish this conversation. I’ll call you later and tell you where you can meet me.” I handed Oliver back his phone and he gladly took it. “Before you go, can you tell me where the nearest woods are? My wolf is itching to go for a run.” “No, I can’t. You can’t let your wolf out or let anyone know what you are. Werewolves were banished from this part of the state years ago. Don’t start waves.” I wagged a finger in his face. Turning on my heel, I ran to the bathroom after seeing Clara’s text that she had taken the girls there.
