I hurriedly pulled him to the side while watching Alaric's sister through gritted teeth.
She turned a suspicious glare at me and so did the old man. “What's going on here?” They asked in unison, like they had been rehearsing the lines all their lives.
I shook my head to wave it aside, but their curiosity had a better part of them. Aria drew closer to us, squatting in front of Aiden.
She tugged his feeble arms gently, trying to get him to say something. “Talk to me, boy. Is your mother trying to hide anything from us? I promise to buy you your best toys if you tell me the whole truth.” She promised.
Aiden shot a quick glance at me, our eyes locking into each other's. The moment I saw him staring at me, I winked at him quickly, urging him to keep quiet.
